Vortex RZB-2104 overview

  • 1Description

The 12x50 Razor HD Binocular from Vortex fuses several proprietary optical technologies with a rubber-armored weather-sealed housing and ergonomic design, making this set of glasses ideal for birders and hunters alike. A 65° apparent viewing angle and impressive 10 ft minimum focus distance make the 12x50 model of the Razor HD great for close-up viewing as well as glassing the horizon. Thanks to its 15.5mm eye relief and twist-up eyecups with multiple click-stop positions, this Razor HD binocular will provide a comfortable viewing distance for almost any observer.

Vortex outfitted their Razor HD series with an apochromatic optical system featuring a fully multi-coated extra-low dispersion (ED) HD lens system that maximizes light transmission while preserving sharpness and color fidelity. Phase-corrected prisms with dielectric multi-coating allow the optical path to render enhanced clarity and contrast.

Complementing the high-transmission optics is a magnesium-alloy housing that is waterproof and argon filled for fogproof performance. Protecting the exposed lens surfaces from dirt and moisture is Vortex's proprietary scratch-resistant ArmorTek coating. Enhancing the usability of the Razor HD housing is an open-bridge design that sheds excess weight, as well as contoured thumb rests that improve ergonomics and balance. The 12x50 Razor HD binocular is backed by Vortex's lifetime warranty, and it comes with flip-down objective covers, rainguard, and carrying case.

    Vortex RZB-2104 reviews

12x50 Razor HD Binocular is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Razor 12x50, maybe for $600 Chromatic aberration and glare are not very good with this bino. The sweet spot is not that sweet. I gave them a month and return them. After compairing binos, I ended up with the Meopta b1 hd 12x50 that had no glare, only very little ca on the outer edges (if you look for it ) , a bigger very sweet spot and a sharper view. Paid the same price for a lot better built binocular( they do weigh 38 oz) and I have no complaints. I guess the Razor 8x and 10x are better by reading the reviews. I may have received a defective pair of the Razor 12x binos with no coatings. My eyes like the Meopta Meostars better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing quality and unbeatable price! I bought a pair of the Razor 12x50s without ever having looked through a pair. I was nothing short of impressed when I put them to use. Colors pop, images are sharp and clear, they're light and rugged. A very well made binocular that is on the same playing field as European glass for half the price with a better warranty! I've put these to use in New Mexico shed antler hunting, pronghorn hunting, mule deer hunting, elk hunting, oryx (gemsbok) hunting , and have even used them to spot fish in clear streams. These binos have never let me down once and are always up to the task! Can't wait to pair them up with a razor spotting scope for the ultimate combination!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal clarity and color Purchased these binos specifically for big game hunting. The diopter allows you to initially focus each eyepiece individually which makes images even more clear. The amount of detail that these binos pickup at extended distances is amazing. I find that with the 12x magnification, I can seen more detail at distance vs a 15x magnification due to the color clarity and contrast. This advantage becomes even more obvious in low-light conditions when other binos' images start to fade. Well worth the money if you want the best image clarity and definition available without spending twice the amount to get minimal returns. Plus with Vortex's unlimited warranty, hard to beat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely worth the money Upgraded to these from vortex diamondback 10x42. Wow what a difference! Also don't know why I waited so long to upgrade. As a birder your binos are what you use 90% of the time yet i've spent thousands on camera gear, I should have spent more on binos earlier. Very happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the money! Great low light binoculars. Very little shake considering they're 12's

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great glass! I bought these to replace my 10x42 Viper HD binoculars. The step up to the 12x50 was the greatest thing I could have done. The 12x magnification is a huge step up for me identifying objects, and the light retention from the 50mm objective lenses increases my brightness and glassing time. Can't believe I didn't have these sooner!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Glass for my kids I bought the Razor HD 12x50s and the 10x50s to use while hunting with my kids. I have loaned them to my nephews and a couple of other people that needed glass to take their kids out hunting. I hunt in Arizona and glassing off a tripod is the only way to hunt. Putting my kids behind glass keeps them in the hunt from the start to the end. It ended them being bored while the adults look for deer/javilina/elk. It also ended me being worried that they might drop/bang/scratch them. Anxious dad no more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Clarity At first I wasn't sure if I should spend the extra to upgrade when I compared the Razors to other Vortex models in the store. After using them the past 6 months in the field though the low light performance and clarity has proven to be incredible. I can see more detail with these @12x than I can through my Viper Riflescope @16x, or my budget 20x-60x spotting scope at any power. From now on I will be patient and save up for the Razor series in any optics I buy. This is the best glass I have ever used.
