The QRP-40 from FLM is a dovetail quick release plate made for cameras with a 1/4"-20 tripod thread. It allows you to quickly attach and detach your camera from a tripod, monopod or other support. The cork-coated surface protects the bottom of your camera body and prevents camera-twist.

I use this plate in the base of my Fotodiox collar to fast and secure mount my Canon EF 70-300 IS L zoom lens atop my Acratech tripod head.
I use the QRP-40 with a QRB-50 Base to reduce the size of metal on the bottom of my camera & lenses. It works fine with any base -40, -50, or -70. It is affordable and mounts without any play on either end (camera or base).
