Think Tank Photo TurnStyle 5 overview

  • 1Description

The lightweight charcoal TurnStyle 5V1 Sling Camera Bag from Think Tank Photo is water-resistant and holds a large mirrorless camera with two lenses or a small mirrorless camera with four lenses inside interior dividers within the main zippered camera compartment. It also accommodates a small 7.9" tablet in a dedicated padded zippered pocket at the back of the bag. For holding accessories, there are assorted pockets throughout the sling.

The TurnStyle bag is convertible from a camera sling worn over your shoulder to a photo belt pack worn around your waist. For converting the bag, use the padded strap that detaches from one end via its slip-in clip. This clip can slide into one of two nylon webbed loops. When inserting the clip into the loop on the padded tab at the side, you can wear the bag like a belt pack around your waist. When placing the clip into the loop at the top, you transform your bag into a shoulder sling. The TurnStyle 5V1 can also be carried using a grip handle at the top.

The interior divider width is approximately 3.0". As a soft-sided bag, what will and won't fit is subject to personal preferences for snugness/looseness.

Think Tank Photo TurnStyle 5 reviews

TurnStyle 5V1 Sling Camera Bag (Charcoal) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I may check out other bags later on. The bag looks good, well made and I got it on sale for $39.99 which is a very good price and free shipping. I'm able to pack a Sony A6000, 16-50mm, and 55-210 telephoto lens and an external battery charger in the main compartment. Iphone 6 Plus in the rear pocket. Not much room in the front pocket possibly a phone cable and a couple of memory card. Only complaint is I'm having a difficult time adjusting the shoulder strap padding to feel real comfortable. I have to really shorten the strap so that the padded part rest on my shoulder and by doing this the bag sits very high behind my back. I prefer it to sit a little lower. Overall I'm satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag I have a Canon 6D that I use with a side strap. I have set up for most of the small things I need, batteries, cards and the like. I didn't have a way to carry additional lenses. This bag works great. I can carry 2 additional lenses (I don't have any or need any really big long lenses for what I do). I love the sling style. I can slide it around front, use it as a shelf and change lenses. Then it slides back out of my way. With the side strap on one shoulder and the sling on the other it balances out. They work just fine together.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very compact The bag is sturdy and well manufactured. The shoulder belt is comfortable. However, the bag is just a little bit smaller than I hoped. It'll take my Fujifilm XT-1 with 18-55mm lens mounted, plus one of the larger lenses like the XF 55-200 OR the XF 10-24 plus the tiny XF 27mm lens. My hopes were to fit the body with mounted lens plus 2 larger lenses in. Unfortunately that didn't work. Best use is probably a with compact body (like the XT1) with attached lens and one additional lens.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tiny Tiny Although the bag is fairly well made, my complaint was with its size as described in the listing. "A mirrorless body and 2-4 lenses." If your idea of a mirrorless camera is the sony RX-100, okay then they are correct. 2-4 lenses will have to be the tiny pancake kit lenses. As far as all of those and a tablet, I feel this is very deceiving. It is full with maybe two small lenses and my iphone 7plus as the tablet. Just let your buyers know how small it is and we can then make better decisions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed! I bought this bag to carry my Sony a6000 and the bag is perfect for it. I have SEL55210 lens with Olympus teleconverter mounted to the camera and the whole thing fits fine with room for the kit lens. It's very well made and very comfortable to carry as a sling backpack but it's not ambidextrous. The rain pouch/cover is very neat and well hidden.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Well Designed Sling Bag The choices out there for sling bags can seem endless, so I didn't have total confidence after ordering that this bag was going to be the best solution. Having now used it everyday for the last two weeks, I can now say that it has met and surpassed my expectations in many ways. The bag is small enough in outside dimensions that it doesn't become a chore to move through crowded streets or aisles, yet you can pack a lot of equipment on the inside. I'm carrying a Sony A6500 body with 35mm lens attached, and a 55mm lens in one of the interior side compartments. That leaves more room for accessories like flash and charger. I carry an iPad (ver 4) with cover that still fits in the interior back compartment. The main compartment's upper flap has mesh compartments for frequently needed items like batteries and memory chips. Zippers are smooth and non-binding, plus they have sealing flaps to prevent water from seeping in. The zipper pulls are a simple but significant upgrade and they aid in the smooth movement to open and close the flaps. If you are concerned about security (like walking through crowds in NYC), you needn't worry. If someone is pulling on a zipper, you'll know it. The bag material is likewise waterproof with a surface texture that's easy to grip. There are handles at the top and one across the main flap, so you have a choice of how you can carry the bag. The main strap for carrying the sling is easy to customize for the best fit. Lots of loops throughout that can be used to carry other accessories such as a portable tripod. The waist belt strap is helpful but also easy to conceal if not used. Dislikes are that the bag won't stand up on its own. The convenient key holder is not very convenient for my needs and gets in the way. I might cut it off at some point. The bottle holder on the outside of the bag is okay for a 16.9oz bottle but not much larger. Given the pluses and minuses, this bag still deserves a 5 star rating. Think Tank is the parent company.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As Compact as They Get I wanted a very small bag for use when traveling with just enough capacity for a mirrorless body and a couple of lenses and this is about as compact as they get. It accommodates a Fujifilm X-T1 and two lenses (in my case, typically a 55-200 and either a 18-55 or a 10-24), with just enough room to spare for some extra batteries and memory cards. It's a good fit for my requirements; someone accustomed to carrying more gear would definitely need a larger model. Construction and materials quality seem fine, and the product commendably doesn't draw attention to itself.
