Optimized and ready for the latest Windows 10 updates and the upcoming macOS Mojave, including Mojvae’s Dark Mode, Parallels Desktop 14 for Mac is available as a downloadable Pro Edition, as well as a downloadable or boxed Standard Edition. While both editions will run Windows 10, 8.1, 7, Google Chrome, Linux, Unix, and other operating systems on your Mac without rebooting, the Pro Edition is geared toward developers, testers, and experienced power users. The Standard Edition supports 8GB of virtual memory and four virtual processors for each virtual machine and the Pro Edition increases this to 128GB of virtual memory and 32 virtual processors for each virtual machine. Other additions to the Pro Edition include integration with Chef/Ohai/Docker, a network conditioner to simulate speeds and tests, a Microsoft Visual Studio plug-in, and the ability to debug, dump VM, or start an SSH session from the menu. The Pro Edition also includes support for business cloud services, and though both versions include 24/7 phone and email support, the Standard Edition is limited to 30 days and the Pro Edition is covered for the entire one-year licensing period. The Pro Edition also offers free upgrades to newer versions, as well as other perks not included with the Standard Edition.

Parallels Desktop 14 Pro Edition for Mac

Building on the already powerful features of Parallels Desktop 13 for Mac, Parallels 14 will prompt users to install Windows 10 or ask them to select their existing Windows, Linux, Ubuntu, or Boot Camp installation. You’ll even be able to convert your current Boot Camp setup into a virtual machine. If you’re hesitant about switching over from Boot Camp because you don’t want to run Windows in a… windowed environment, Coherence Mode lets Windows occupy the entire screen, so you won’t even be able to tell you’re using a Mac. Parallels supports USB, Thunderbolt™, and FireWire devices, plus Bluetooth pens and printers, and Parallels 14 maintains compatibility with Retina displays and Apple’s Touch Bar.

Parallels 14 is sold as a one-year license that will need to be renewed annually. Included with Parallels 14 is the Parallels Toolbox, which offers more than 30 utilities to help simplify everyday tasks, such as cleaning your drive, securing private files, taking screenshots, or downloading videos, all with a single click.

Have you wanted to switch from Windows to Mac, or are you someone who frequently needs to use non-Mac apps, but doesn’t want to invest in a Windows setup and don’t want to use Apple’s Boot Camp? If so, Parallels 14 is worth checking out. If you don’t have macOS High Sierra 10.13.6, don’t worry, because there is legacy compatibility with macOS Sierra and El Capitan. Please be aware that virtual machines created in Parallels Desktop 3 or 4, and never run in any other version, are not going to work in Parallels Desktop 14.
