Gamers, developers, and workstation users, rejoice! SanDisk has announced its latest Optimus GX series of solid-state drives aimed to deliver enhanced speeds for systems big and small alike. This Optimus GX lineup includes both PCIe 4.0 and 5.0 drives with varying degrees of capacities and performance profiles to enhance your overall experience! Whether you are rendering large projects or playing your favorite game, SanDisk is here to lay the groundwork for your next big thing.
Since SanDisk split off from the previous partner, Western Digital, they decided to continue the development of storage drives. While these are all newly branded drives, the technology behind them remains the same, giving you the same performance and reliability you’ve known and trusted for years.
Optimus GX 7100
Starting with the Optimus GX 7100: This drive offers high-performance speeds set on the PCIe 4.0 standard backed by SanDisk’s TLC 3D CBA NAND chips and nCache 4.0 technology. This provides you with sequential read and write speeds as high as 7250 and 6900 MB/s, respectively, making it great for gaming! We also get an upwards of 1.75-million-hour Meantime Between Failures (MTTF), which is great for longevity. Additionally, we get enhanced security with TCG Pyrite 2.01 protocols.
The Optimus GX 7100 comes in 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB. An additional model called the Optimus GX 7100M is designed for handheld gaming PCs, offering 1TB and 2TB of storage for your digital library of games.
Optimus GX PRO 850X
For those who want a bit more longevity and heatsink options, the Optimus GX PRO 850X is available with multiple capacity options up to 8TB! The GX PRO 850X offers read speeds up to 7300 MB/s while write speeds go up to 6600 MB/s. This SSD uses SanDisk’s BiCS TLC 3D NAND chips to offer higher memory density which enhances performance and throughput. We also get 1.75-million-hour MTTF alongside bigger Total Bytes Written (TBW) pools for greater reliability.
Optimus GX PRO 8100
For those who have a need for speed, the Optimus GX PRO 8100 is incredibly fast! Using the PCIe 5.0 standard, you get sequential read speeds reach an upwards of 14,900 MB/s and writes up to 14,000 MB/s. This makes it far more capable of a drive, enabling users who operate in workstation and AI application environments to streamline their tasks and render projects faster than ever before! Like other models, we get a 1.75-million-hour MTTF, BiCS TLC 3D CBA NAND, and nCache 4.0.
