Finding the right gift for the gaming enthusiast in your life can be tough because, in many cases, they tend to buy whatever they need whenever they need it. So today, we're going to give you some inspirational gifts with the aim to truly " wow" the gamer in your life.
Gaming Monitors
Let's start with the big one: gaming monitors. Unlike standard or design monitors, gaming monitors are designed to enhance performance for a cleaner gaming experience. These types of displays mix resolution, refresh rate, and other features to deliver smooth gameplay. I could easily recommend the ASUS Republic of Gamers Strix OLED XG32UCDS. It fits the standard 16:9 aspect ratio, features 4K resolution, and produces greater speed at 165 Hz. The standout feature of this model is the OLED panel, which produces vivid colors and wide viewing angles. It even has a built-in proximity sensor that turns the display off when you walk away and pixel cleaning to prevent burn-in.
If you are looking for a solid monitor that won't break the bank, the 27" MSI MAG 275QF is wonderful. It has a 1440p resolution that strikes the middle ground between 1080p and 4K. It also has a fast 180 Hz refresh rate that gives games a nice smooth feel.
I also recommend the 34" BenQ EX3410R MOBIUZ ultrawide curved monitor. As an owner of this model, I can attest to the high quality of the MOBIUZ's immersive curved display, which boasts a 3440 x 1440 resolution and 144 Hz refresh rate. The secret sauce to the MOBIUZ is the built-in speakers, which include dual 2-watt drivers and a single 5-watt subwoofer capable of delivering intense, immersive audio. Definitely a great monitor for gaming enthusiasts.
Keyboards
When it comes to gaming, a good keyboard always helps. If you split time between typing and gaming, then a keyboard like the Logitech G G413 SE is a solid choice. It features tactile mechanical switches across the entire full-length design, great for both work and play. There is nothing too fancy here or over the top. In lieu of RGB colorization, it has sturdy hardware meant to last.
In the market for something stylish yet accessible? The 8BitDo mechanical keyboard is a great choice. Available in many different styles, this keyboard lets gamers show off their unique personality though a custom look. It has Kailh Box White V2 Switches, a hot-swappable PCB for quick upgrades, and an internal battery so you can use it wirelessly. Additionally, there is the fast-mapping dual super button controller that allows users to perform various tasks with a single push of a button.
If you are looking for a keyboard that can do it all while looking aesthetically pleasing, look no further than the Logitech G G915 LIGHTSPEED gaming keyboard. The low-profile design feels great and accommodates typists and gamers. There is a full number pad complete with RGB backlighting, dedicated media buttons, programmable keys, and a whole lot more. It can connect wirelessly via Logitech's LIGHTSPEED technology or Bluetooth. It comes in many different flavors, so make sure you check out which ones are available and meets the style you're looking for.
Mice
A gamer is only as good as their mouse, and my personal favorite is the reliable Logitech G G502 HERO. It has multiple programmable buttons that can be customized to fit many scenarios, a high-end adjustable dpi sensor, and a custom weight system to get that perfect feel. The real game-changer is the built-in scroll wheel that features 4-way scrolling. It can also be unlocked for quick, unlimited scrolling, which can help with various gaming elements like zooming in and out of scenery. It comes in both wired and wireless versions.
The Razer Naga V2 HyperSpeed is a legendary mouse thanks to its overall comfortable design and a ton of programmable buttons. There are 12 buttons right where your thumb rests, giving gamers instant access to various in-game abilities and macros. Two additional buttons are found near the left-click button as well. It also has a scroll wheel powered by Razer's Hyperscroll technology and even has tactile cycling and free-spin modes.
For the DIY gamers out there, the ASUS ROG Chakram X Origin is a fantastic mouse that features a ton of customization and some pretty great repairability options. The mouse offers great performance between the AimPoint optical sensor and multiple programable buttons. What is really awesome about the Chakram X Origin is how multiple parts—including the left- and right-click buttons, covers, and more—can be replaced in the event of damage or failure.
Headsets
Gamers can easily hear every footstep sneaking up behind them with a solid gaming headset like the JBL Quantum 100M2. This particular model offers a comfortable fit suitable for hours of gaming thanks to the breathable memory foam earcups. Of course, that is only half of it as the Quantum also sports dual 40mm dynamic drivers for clear and robust sound. A mic is located on the left cup and can be adjusted for the ideal pickup pattern.
Fractal Design is known for their sophisticated and stylish PC cases and they bring that same design philosophy to gaming headsets with the wireless Scape Dark. The headband and earcups feature ample support thanks to the memory foam cushions. The boom mic can be adjusted for the ideal pickup or be completely removed when not in use. It also includes a charging dock that can keep the Scape Dark powered up when not in use. Best of all, it supports PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android platforms.
Perhaps one of the most user-friendly headsets that offers great support with enhanced audio is the ASTRO Gaming A50 Gen 5 wireless headset. Built off of Logitech's LIGHTSPEED technology, the A50 offers great performance backed by the custom 40mm Pro-G Graphene drivers. What is incredibly appealing is how the A50 can connect to multiple systems simultaneously with the ability to quickly swap between each one with the press of a button.
Other Great Gaming Devices
Mobile gaming is getting more and more popular, and the ideal device to play on is the Apple 8.3" iPad Mini. The device itself is powered by Apple's A17 Pro chip, which can deliver seamless gameplay experience across a vast range of titles. The display is the perfect size with a great resolution to make your favorite games really pop with color. Most importantly though, it feels great in the hands and can perform multiple tasks with ease! Since it can do everything, users can go from games to reading an e-book or watching some streaming media quickly.
Those looking to get into the world of VR will find the Meta Quest 3S to be an absolute blast. It features a ton of utility powered by an improved internal processor, 1832 x 1920 resolution per eye, dual RGB cameras for color passthrough, and a whole lot more. There are a ton of games within the Meta store that are compatible with the Meta 3S.
Controllers are a great tool for all types of gamers. Pro-level controllers like the Razer Wolverine V2 Pro are incredibly useful. The Wolverine V2 offers tactile buttons, back paddles, and an asymmetrical joystick layout that many gamers adore. It also has adjustable triggers and replaceable joystick types for obtaining the ideal comfort.
Specialty controllers designed for specific types of games also make great gifts. For console racers, the Logitech G G29 Driving Force racing wheel and pedal set offers that simulation-like racing experience complete with so many bells and whistles to complete the experience.
For those who love flying simulators, Logitech also has you covered with the their G X56 H.O.T.A.S. RGB Throttle and Stick controller. This two-part device features the throttle on one panel and the flight stick on the other. This enables users to move the unity around their desk for the ideal layout. Each part has ample buttons and switches to simulate a cockpit and is compatible with a variety of additional devices to take the simulation to the next level.
Racing wheels and flight sticks are only the surface level of immersion. Short of driving or flying an actual vehicle, you could gift the Next Level Racing F-GT Simulator Cockpit or the Flight Simulator Cockpit for racing and flight games. Each unit has a strong frame that can handle most simulator apparatuses.
One of my favorite devices that has become the centerpiece of my desktop setup is the Elgato Stream Deck+ and you can read all about it and the additional devices in a separate article here. The utility behind the device is great. Eight programmable buttons and four knobs open up endless possibilities whether users are looking to extend the control over their system or break out into the streaming world. Elgato also released a wide range of devices aimed towards creators looking to break into the streaming world with their Neo Series hardware and accessories, which you can read about here.
