Rupert Neve Designs carries on its legacy of creating unique and powerful outboard audio gear, unveiling their brand new OptoFET Dual-Stage/Dual-Band Compressor. The OptoFET is an aptly named piece of gear, featuring both an optical compression circuit (Opto) and a newly designed field effect transistor compression circuit (FET) in a single one-space rackmount device.
The OptoFET makes it quick and simple to take advantage of common and effective recording and mixing techniques that would normally require two separate devices and some physical routing. When in Dual Stage mode, the two compressors are used in series to achieve the ultra-fast attack for transients from the FET along with the Opto circuit’s program-dependent release for gentle control of trails and sustained sounds. In Dual Band mode, each compressor is assigned to a selected high or low frequency band to process the signal independently from each other, opening up interesting creative and dynamic processing and control possibilities.
