Cranborne Audio has announced the release of Brick Lane MC4, a brand-new high-end 19” rack mounted four-channel dynamics processer. Designed to be the evolution of the popular 500-series Brick Lane 500 Modal PWM compressor, the Brick Lane MC4 continues to use Cranborne’s innovative Pulse Wave Modulation compression architecture. PWM compression modulates dynamics control law, time constraints, and harmonic behavior of the analog gain stage rather than affecting only ratios and thresholds, setting it apart from its more traditional competition.
The four-channel dynamics processor is capable of an impressive variety of compression methods with Vari-Mu, Opto, and FET modes, along with tame, glue, and polish modes that take advantage of the MC4’s modern circuitry and transparency. The MC4 is also capable of mono, stereo, and mid/side processing modes and can handle multiple signals at once either in series and dual-band modes, as well as advanced de-essing with analog lookahead to avoids overshoot, distortion, and pumping effects.

Cranborne is dedicated to making high-end analog gear that takes advantage of modern technology. The MC4 is able to be fully digitally controlled via USB or Ethernet network and features inserts for outboard gear on all four dynamics channels, both internal and external sidechain inputs, and a modern user interface with a 5” full color TFT screen for monitoring and LED rings for all digital encoders.
The Cranborne Brick Lane MC4 looks to be a powerful beast that likely will find its home in many high-end professional recording studios.
