Audio-Technica has released two new shotgun microphones designed for video content creators, YouTubers, and anyone else who needs pro-quality sound. The fully featured ATV-SG1 and beginner-friendly ATV-SG1LE are both camera-mounted plug-and-play shotgun microphones modeled after the meticulous detail, stunning reproduction of the human voice, and surprising affordability of Audio-Technica's highly regarded 20-series condenser microphones.
Both microphones feature a newly designed 14mm large-diameter diaphragm, 100mm directional acoustic tube for focused pickup, adjustable shoe mounting plate with integrated shock mount, and Audio-Technica's patented noise-immunity technology, preventing any hum from smartphones or other electronic devices.
Designed for use with DSLR, mirrorless SLR, and other camera that supports connection via 3.5mm TRS, the battery-less ATV-SG1LE uses a bespoke plug-in power circuitry that gives it the professional sound of a battery powered mic—meaning higher max SPL and better frequency range than competing plug-in mics.
The more expensive battery-powered ATV-SG1 has a safety track mechanism which records audio to two tracks at once, with one at -6 dB in case of volume spikes. It also adds more features that include a low-cut filter switch, gain adjustment knob, headphone and external input jacks for lavalier extensions, and built-in USB rechargeable battery.
