The DR-40XP offers 18 hours of battery life and can connect directly to your phone or laptop via USB-C. It comes equipped with XLR/TRS combo jacks with 48V phantom power using Tascam’s new HDDA mic preamps, a built-in tuner, reverb effects, and overdub and overwrite functions.

The update has added features and solved some prior issues, notably supporting 32-bit float recording, switching to microSD cards for storage (up to 512GB), correcting both the reversed L/R channels of the internal microphone when switching between X-Y and A-B modes, as well as the PEAK LED behavior, and changing the microphone design to reduce handling noise and external radio noise from cell phones.

Tascam is offering an impressive update to an already capable and affordable machine—those looking for a powerful and reasonably priced field recorder should take a look at the new TASCAM DR-40XP.
