Ideal for fast glassing on the go, Hawke Optics designed its line of 25mm objective Vantage binoculars in an assortment of colors and magnifications to meet just about any observation need. Available in 8x, 10x, and 12x, in either green or gray, they all share the same optical and construction details so all you need to do is decide on which one is best for what you’ll be using it for.
The 8x model has the widest field of view, the longest eye relief, and widest exit pupil. While the 8x magnification is the lowest of the three iterations, the relatively low power helps to limit the appearance of visible hand shake that can be seen in higher-power optics. In the middle of the series is the 10x version, with an apparent field of view that approaches wide angle, the same 10mm eye relief as the 8x, and a mid-range exit pupil. Ideal for those who need a little more magnification than the 8x, it strikes a nice balance between the low and high choices. For those who need more power, the 12x version brings distant subjects up-close to enable them to make detailed observations.
To help offset the relatively small objectives and ensure the brightest views possible, they employ high-density BaK-4 prism glass, which reduces internal light diffraction for improved clarity and contrast; and anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics to improve light transmission, color rendition, contrast, and overall image brightness. A fast-focusing mechanism runs through the entire focus range in less than 2 turns, so your initial focus is fast, and tracking moving subjects is easy.
Built to withstand the rigors of outdoor use, Hawke employs a lightweight and durable polycarbonate chassis wrapped in textured slip-resistant green rubber armor. Utilizing polycarbonate not only reduces weight without sacrificing strength, but the material is temperature resistant so it will not expand and contract the way metal does which, over time, can cause the optical components to move out of alignment, preventing the binocular from being able to achieve sharp focus. The optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to make them waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature and environmental conditions. To keep the footprint small, the bridge is designed with dual hinges that allow the optical tubes to be folded under the bridge, making them extremely compact when closed to easily fit in a pocket, pack, or purse.
