You can also leave the tripod at home with up to seven stops of image stabilization with Dual I.S. for unparalleled handholding performance.
This lens is made to face the elements with dust and splash resistance plus a working range from -10℃ to 40℃ (14℉ to 104℉). The versatility of this zoom doesn't end there. The lens features a minimum focus distance of just 2.6 ft at 100mm, and 4.92 ft at 500mm, which is ideal for close-ups of insects and flowers with stunning background rendering.
Capture beautiful bokeh with the lens's 11-blade diaphragm and an optical design featuring 19 elements in 12 groups, including two UED lenses, two ED lenses, and two UHR lenses. These precision-engineered optics reduce edge outlining and vignetting for clearer, more impactful images with natural depth.
With great backgrounds comes smooth transitions from in and out of focus areas thanks to the adoption of high-precision Dual Phase Linear Focusing Motors. Additionally, the lens is nearly silent when focusing and with focus breathing suppression for video shooters it is the perfect hybrid zoom. The focus ring can even be used as a control ring for added customization.
