Breathing new life into its DMC-GH4 Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera, Panasonic has just announced firmware version 2.5 that adds Post Focus, 4K PHOTO, and External Flash Burst functions to the camera’s feature set. All of these functions rely on the GH4’s impressive speed and high resolution to capture detailed imagery, and are scheduled to be available at the end of March.

Post Focus, which we have seen in other Lumix cameras, such as the GX8, allows users to select the in-focus area of an image after the photograph has been taken. This means that photographers can change the overall perspective for greater impact or simply ensure that the proper area is in focus during more difficult focusing scenarios.

4K PHOTO leverages the GH4’s 4K video capture to offer photographers the ability to pull 8MP stills from a 30 fps feed. This includes three dedicated modes, 4K Burst, 4K Burst (Start/Stop), and 4K Pre-Burst, that will provide the ideal setup for your subject matter. Along with all of this, External Flash Burst enables consecutive flash shooting with bursts when using a compatible external flash unit, including the DMW-FL580L, DMW-FL360L, DMW-FL500, DMW-FL360, and DMW-FL220.
