Sigma Adds Canon RF-Mount Version of 18-50mm f/2.8 Contemporary Lens

8Share

At last, Sigma is adding Canon RF-mount lenses to its portfolio and is beginning with a fast zoom for APS-C cameras, the compact and versatile 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary zoom. This portable standard zoom provides a wide-angle to portrait-length range, bright f/2.8 constant maximum aperture, and is a perfect companion for everyday shooting, regardless if you're photographing portraits, events, street subjects, landscapes, or more.

This new addition to the Contemporary line joins FUJIFILM X, Sony E, and L-mount versions of the zoom and features effectively the same proven design: it has a stepping motor optimized for efficient communication with Canon RF-mount cameras for fast and accurate AF performance and can focus as close as 4.8" with a 0.36x maximum magnification. Optically, it leans on three aspherical elements to produce sharp images while keeping weight down. It has a 7-blade diaphragm, takes 55mm filters, and comes with a petal-style lens hood.

Pre-orders are open now for the RF version of this 18-50mm and Sigma has announced they'll also be releasing Canon RF versions of some of their other popular APS-C-format lenses later in 2024, including the 10-18mm f/2.8, 16mm f/1.4, 23mm f/1.4, 30mm f/1.4, and 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary.
