Capture the tiniest details by getting up-close and personal with Canon’s latest mirrorless lens release: the EF-M 28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM. Designed for the EOS M series of mirrorless cameras, this APS-C lens is an ideal mate, thanks to its claim as the world’s lightest autofocus macro option and a retractable design that shrinks the length to just 1.8" when not in use. Another distinguishing feature is the integration of a Macro Lite LED, which will let users illuminate close-up subjects. The 45mm equivalent optic also has two distinct modes, a normal setting that can handle a range of subject matter from infinity to 1x magnification, and a Super Macro Mode that lets you get as close as 3.7" with 1.2x magnification.
Equipped with a Hybrid IS system, the 28mm minimizes the effects of camera shake, preventing blur and capturing detail in super close ups. Also, by using a lead screw-type STM AF motor, this lens can lock onto subjects quickly and accurately while keeping noise to an absolute minimum for use during video recording. For maximum image quality, one UD element and two aspherical elements work to minimize aberrations and maximize sharpness at all settings.
