Night Photography in National Parks

0Share

In this B&H Event Space video, National Parks at Night’s Lance Keimig and Chris Nicholson share their combined experience in capturing the beauty and drama of our increasingly popular, yet crowded, national parks, under optimal conditions—at night. Almost everyone disappears from these great expanses of unspoiled land after the sunset fades, allowing photographers a rich palette of unique perspectives to explore. For example, National Parks have some of the darkest skies around, granting intrepid adventurers the opportunity to capture hallucinatory views of the Milky Way.

As Keimig and Nicholson showcase their images of National Parks from A to Z, they offer general tips on night photography, and discuss techniques and gear for working at night, as well as in natural light. Viewers will also benefit from tips on working with several popular night-photography Apps. After watching, you’ll come away inspired to explore image making after dark in parks such as Acadia, Big Bend, Death Valley, Joshua Tree, Yosemite, Zion, and many others.
