New to B&H, the compact and well-appointed MPC Studio Black Music Production Controller combines the legendary MPC form and function with the power of a Mac or Windows computer. This fully integrated hardware/software system features the classic 16 MPC drum pads with touch-sensitive controls and couples it with the MPC software that provides expandable production capabilities.
The USB bus-powered hardware controller is designed to be streamlined with a brushed-aluminum enclosure that’s 1.5" thick. Each of the four Q-Link knobs is touch sensitive, allowing for even greater control and expressiveness. New to the MPC Studio is a Scroll knob, which allows you to select sections of 4 parameters in the MPC Software's interface, which can then be manipulated by the device’s 4 Q-Link knobs. Additionally, the extra-thick 16 RGB back-lit drum pads are more responsive, inspiring greater expression in programming and performance. Other enhancements include “Half Level,” which outputs a medium velocity of 64, and “Full Level,” which outputs a velocity of 127, as well as a latch function, which permanently engages the “Note Repeat,” so the Note Repeat button doesn’t need to be held down.
The included software features a 128-track sequencer with up to eight pad banks of programs and sounds. It can be used in stand-alone fashion or initiated as a DAW plug-in with support for VST, RTAS, and AU formats. The MPC software is compatible with Mac or PC and supports WAV, MP3, AIFF, REX, and SND, as well as samples and sequences from any MPC ever made. The included software library “The Bank” offers 7GB of sounds and 300 instruments including basses, leads, effects, keyboards, and much more. What’s more, the package includes “The 809,” an MPC expansion with a vast collection of punchy analog drum machine sounds, each with its own controls for maximum tweakability.
Most importantly, the MPC Studio Black maintains the workflow that has made the Akai Pro MPC the industry standard in music production for decades.
