Audio-Technica Announces New System 20 PRO Wireless System

Audio-Technica is announcing its plug-and-play System 20 PRO rack receiver, which is scalable up to an impressive 20 channels while still capable of delivering dependable, high-quality 24-bit / 48 kHz audio in any environment. Designed for hassle-free deployment, System 20 PRO overcomes many challenges of conventional wireless microphones, such as frequency coordination, complex intermodulation calculations, and remote antenna cabling.

The system’s versatile ATW-R1440 receiver functions as a two-channel receiver in standard mode, but it can also operate as a four-channel receiver in HD (High-Density) mode, if you need more microphones. This increased reception density comes with increased latency (up to 6.7ms). Therefore, users are free to choose between lower-latency Standard mode with up to 2.8ms of latency and only 10-channel support, or HD mode in situations where channel count takes precedence over latency.

Installation is a breeze; the components lock automatically, and the receiver module can remain docked in the half-rack chassis or mounted remotely (up to 328’ away) via Ethernet for improved reception. You can link up to five chassis with the included RJ12 cable for a stable, multichannel system with up to 20 simultaneous channels in HD mode. You can pair up to four transmitters per channel, which makes it quick and easy to swap over to a new performer or presenter during shows and events.

Setup and management are seamless via Audio-Technica’s Wireless Manager software, which can manage multiple UHF, 2.4 GHz, and DECT wireless systems from a single screen. AES128 encryption also comes standard, ensuring security and reliability. This software can configure, monitor, and save device settings as projects.

The System 20 PRO ATW-T1401 body-pack transmitter sports two integrated antennas and is compatible with NiMH rechargeable batteries for all-day use. You also get a slide-to-mute switch, a bright and clear OLED display, and a water/sweat-resistant cW-style locking 4-pin connector for use with a variety of Audio-Technica mics.

The ATW-T1402 handheld microphone transmitter also features dual antennas, all-day battery life with NiMH battery compatibility, a slide-to-mute switch, and OLED display. The integrated mic sports a dynamic hypercardioid capsule.

Available for more specialized applications, such as conferencing the ATW-T1406 boundary microphone transmitter includes long-lasting lithium-ion batteries for long battery life, selectable mute operation (toggle, touch to talk, or touch to mute), two LED options (standard and conference modes), and an OLED display. A USB-C connector is used for charging, which it can do while transmitting.

If desk mounting is more your thing, the ATW-T1407 desk stand transmitter is also available and includes an XLR three-pin female gooseneck mic connector which is compatible with quick-mount gooseneck mics (sold separately). Otherwise, this transmitter includes the same features as the boundary mic.

For charging your non-USB-C transmitters, Audio-Technica has two options. The first is the ATW-CHG3a, a two-bay charging station which is compatible with the bodypack and handheld transmitters. This charging station features indicator LEDs for monitoring power and charging status. Up to five ATW-CHG3a chargers can be linked and powered together by a single power supply.

Alternatively, you can pick up the ATW-CHG3Na for the same performance as the ATW-CHG3a but with the added benefit of networking. This allows the charging status of all transmitters in linked stations to be monitored via Ethernet cable through the dedicated Audio-Technica app or third-party software. Networking even allows you to transmit the charge status of a non-Ethernet connected ATW-CHG3a charging station, provided they are linked to an ATW-CHG3Na via their power connections.

Finally, Audio-Technica’s new System PRO 20 comes in three system kits. The ATW-1421 Dual Bodypack System includes one four-channel receiver and two bodypack transmitters without microphones. The ATW-1422 Dual Handheld Microphone System includes one receiver with two handheld mic/transmitters. And the ATW-1423 Dual Handheld and Bodypack System includes, you guessed it, the receiver, a handheld mic transmitter, and a bodypack transmitter.
