PreSonus has a reputation for producing versatile, cost-efficient, easy-to-use hardware that can be counted on to perform reliably in a variety of configurations. Their latest offerings carry the torch and bring new hope to those needing solid solutions for studio and live stage applications.
The new Studio 1810 and Studio 1824 USB audio interfaces are designed to deliver analog, digital, and MIDI I/O for musicians, recording engineers, and mixers in home, project, and mobile studios. They feature XMAX Class-A mic preamps and a total of 18 inputs for connection of mics, instruments, line level sources, and digital gear. To integrate a keyboard, sequencer, synthesizer, or sound module, MIDI I/O is available via a break-out cable. Outputs include (but are not limited to) two 1/4" TRS main outputs, multiple 1/4" TRS line outputs, and two dedicated 1/4" headphone jacks.
Both models connect via USB 2.0, support up to 24-bit/192 kHz resolution, and have nearly identical control layouts. Dedicated level knobs are provided for the main stereo output, each preamp, and the two headphone jacks. The front panel features buttons for phantom power, channels 1-2 line/instrument selection, and mute, plus eight-segment LED meters for the mic preamps and main outputs. Both units also boast DSP-driven monitor mixing with zero latency for flexible cue mixing.
Bundled with the audio interfaces is a software collection that includes the Studio One Artist digital audio workstation, the Studio Magic Plug-In Suite, and the UC Surface monitor mix control for Mac, Windows, iPad, and Android.
For StudioLive Series III mixers and other AVB-compatible devices in concert venues, houses of worship, and more, PreSonus has released three AVB-enabled devices: the NSB 8.8 and NSB16.8 stage boxes and the EarMix 16M personal monitor mixer. Both stage boxes feature XLR-1/4" combo jack inputs with XMAX Class-A mic preamps—the NSB 8.8 has eight, while the NSB 16.8 has 16—and eight balanced XLR 3-pin outputs. For security, all jacks are locking. The stage boxes support setup and control via StudioLive Series III mixers or UC Surface software and have two AVB ports. So, just set them on or off stage and adjust preamp levels remotely from your mixer!
The EarMix 16M personal monitor mixer delivers multi-channel mixing of up to 16 mono inputs (via AVB) and a stereo 3.5mm input to two 1/4" TRS line outs and a 1/4" headphone output, which can handle headphones or in-ear monitors with high or low impedances. It supports power over Ethernet and packs 3-band EQ and limiting and each channel and the stereo mix. Other luxuries include grouping, stereo linking, and AVB daisy-chaining for expansion to as many as 24 EarMix 16M mixers from a single StudioLive Series III console. Straightforward global and local controls ensure simple, efficient operations for the performers on stage.
For anything from club gigs to concerts, entertain the NSB stage boxes and EarMix 16M personal mixer. Consider the Studio Series 1810 and 1824 interfaces for recording in home, project, and mobile studio setups.
