Building upon the success of the Studio 68 and Studio 26, Presonus has released the Studio 1824 and Studio 1810 high-resolution USB 2.0 audio interfaces, with more inputs and greater flexibility for musicians, engineers, project studios, and live recordists.
The 1RU Studio 1824 boasts up to 18 inputs and 18 outputs (8x8 at 192 kHz). Inputs 1 and 2 offer mic/instrument/line inputs, while inputs 3 through 8 offer mic/line inputs. The onboard XMAX Class-A microphone preamps, when combined with high-grade digital converters and ultra-low-jitter clocking, provides professional-grade recording and playback. In addition to stereo main outputs with front-panel mono, mute, and level control, you’ll find eight balanced line outputs for cue-mixes or monitor mixes, as well as stereo digital I/O via S/PDIF and two stereo headphone outputs. All line-level outputs are DC coupled, so you can send control voltages to compatible gear. An additional eight channels of ADAT Optical I/O enable you to incorporate external preamps or ADCs. A BNC word clock output allows for the synchronization of other digital devices, while the onboard DSP offers up to four stereo near-zero latency monitor mixes.
The portable desktop Studio 1810 offers the same high-quality mic/instrument/line inputs for channels 1 and 2, while inputs 3 and 4 offer mic/line inputs, and inputs 5 through 8 are TRS direct-to-ADC line inputs. Like the 1824, the onboard XMAX Class-A microphone preamps, when combined with high-grade digital converters and ultra-low-jitter clocking, provide professional-grade recording and playback. For outputs, the Studio 1810 feature a total of six TRS outputs (2 x main and 4 x line), plus stereo S/PDIF digital I/O. All line-level outputs are DC coupled, enabling them to send control voltages. An ADAT input provides an additional 8 channels of input with compatible multichannel preamp/ADC units. One of the high-powered headphone outputs features Cue Mix A/B, allowing for the creation of two separate mixes with the press of a button, providing the flexibility needed for live DJ performances and studio collaborations.
Both interfaces ship with Studio One Artist for Mac and Windows, which features complete control-room integration for creating near-zero-latency monitor mixes from within the DAW environment. Additionally, the free PreSounus UC Surface touch control software is available for Mac, Windows, iPad, and Android tablets. What’s more, the Studio Magic Plug-in Suite is also included and features a variety of plug-ins and instruments from SPL, Maag, Lexicon, Output, Brainworx, Arturia, and more. PreSonus has stepped up its game with these latest offerings, which promise high-resolution recording and mixing at an affordable price.
