Real-time vocal harmony generation, especially in pedal form, can often sound weird, artificial, and a little off-putting. However, if you haven’t heard TC-Helicon’s take on the effect, go check out audio samples straightaway. You won’t be disappointed. With this Harmony 2 pedal, TC-Helicon has taken its harmony algorithms and jammed them into a stompbox enclosure, giving you a simple and intuitive device for achieving instantaneous harmonious bliss in any live, solo application.
It works like this: Route your guitar through the pedal’s 1/4" jacks, route your mic through its XLR connections, and the pedal, when instantiated, will analyze your guitar chords as you play them, delivering accurate and melodious polyphony to the vocal channel instantaneously. The stompbox won’t color your guitar’s sound at all, but it will add up to two harmonies to your voice, giving you eight different harmony styles and a mix-level control for the effect.
Also included with the pedal are two more features: a reverb knob for effecting anything from room to concert-hall ambiance, and a tone button, which sweetens the overall vocal quality by providing adaptive EQ and compression in conservative amounts. The pedal features all-metal construction and can run on four AA batteries, making it eminently portable. So, if you’re a solo performer in search of polyphonic real-time harmonies that sound natural and well-rounded, definitely check out this pedal.
