Windows users are rejoicing as Universal Audio announces the release of its UAD-2 Satellite USB for Windows. Following on the heels of the Apollo Twin USB, the new Satellite USB is offered in quad processor and octo-processor configurations that will allow Windows users to supercharge their systems to run larger mixes utilizing the acclaimed UAD plug-ins. The convenient desktop unit provides full access to Universal Audio’s award winning plug-in library, including exclusive titles from Neve, API, Studer, Lexicon, and more.
The company’s DSP engineers work with the original hardware manufacturers, using their exact schematics and best units, to provide the experience of processing audio with classic analog equipment. The accelerator's SHARC processors and USB 3 SuperSpeed technology offer better performance and reduced plug-in latency compared to FireWire 800. This system provides an excellent introduction to the world of UAD plug-ins, or is an ideal DSP expander for Apollo Twin USB audio interfaces. Additionally, the Satellites can be combined with other UAD-2 devices, including UAD-2 PCIe cards and UAD-2 Satellite FireWire. There are five configurations available including the Quad-Core, Quad-Custom, Octo-Core, Octo-Custom, and Octo-Ultimate.
The Quad-Core and Octo-Core are offered with four or eight SHARC processors, respectively, and ship with the Analog Classics plug-in bundle featuring the UA 610-B Preamp and EQ, along with Legacy editions of the LA-2A Classic Audio Leveler, 1176LN / 1176SE Classic Limiting Amplifier, Fairchild 670 Tube Limiter, Pultec Pro Equalizer, UA Precision Enhancer Hz, Precision Mix Rack Collection, and RealVerb Pro plug-ins.
The Quad-Custom and Octo-Custom are offered with four or eight SHARC processors, respectively, and include the Analog Classics plug-in bundle. The custom software bundle allows users to choose any three UAD plug-in titles at registration.
The Octo-Ultimate 4 bundle is offered with eight SHARC processors and includes a total of 83 UA-developed plug-ins with emulations from Ampex, Lexicon, EMT, Neve, Manley, Fairchild, Little Labs, Studer, SSL, and many more.
