Adams Professional Audio is arguably the foremost popularizer of the ribbon tweeter in stereo monitoring. A design that utilizes folded ribbon tweeters instead of the dome tweeters found in many comparable active speakers, Adams has secured a reputation for achieving a pristine and clarion tone in its monitors, due, in no small part, to the tweeters.
If you're in the market for nearfield, midfield, or main speakers, Adams offers a variety of configurations that will suit your needs. Take the S2V, a vertically oriented nearfield monitor with a 7" Hexacone woofer and a proprietary HPS waveguide for a wide sweet spot. This monitor sports a frequency response of 35 to Hz to 50 kHz, with DSP options onboard to help fine-tune your monitoring system.
For larger, horizontally oriented midfield monitors, check out the S3H, a three-way unit with two 7" Hexacone woofers, one 4" dome/cone hybrid midrange driver and, of course, the folded-ribbon tweeter. A step larger, and intended for vertical placement, the S3V gives you a 9" woofer (also Hexacone) alongside the 4" driver and folded-ribbon tweeter.
Taking up more space and delivering lower frequency responses are the S5V and S5H. The former boasts a 12" woofer, the midrange driver/tweeter complement you’ve by now come to expect, and a frequency response extending down to 26 Hz. The latter goes down to 24 Hz, subs out the 12" woofer with two 10" HexaCone behemoths, and is designed for horizontal orientation.
All models are active, sport XLR analog inputs, and AES3 digital inputs.
