Thinking about making the leap to 8K video capture for stunning resolution and color depth, incredibly nuanced HDR, improved low-light performance, and cleaner compositing? Shooting with 8K cameras like RED DIGITAL CINEMA’s MONSTRO 8K VV and HELIUM 8K S35 also enables you to reframe or crop several 4K or HD shots from one angle in post-production, effectively gaining a B camera or getting a multicam look using a single camera. Even if you’re currently finishing to 4K, an 8K master offers your production future-proofing for later, higher release standards.
The MONSTRO 8K VV and HELIUM 8K S35 cameras also feature simultaneous recording in REDCODE RAW and Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHR/HD, enabling you to choose between real-time 8K editing or space-saving proxies for post work. Both cameras can capture in their native full resolution 1.90:1 aspect ratio or in several storage-saving preset aspect ratios like 2.4:1 widescreen (WS), 2:1, 16:9 HD, or anamorphic (ANA) which is designed for 2X anamorphic lenses.

RED 8K Cameras
MONSTRO
Choose between the full-frame sensor MONSTRO 8K VV features a rugged aluminum-alloy body for reliable, in-the-field use. The MONSTRO comes with an aluminum PL lens mount that is compatible with the wide variety full-frame PL-mount lenses available in the pro-cine market. A VV Canon mount is available separately.
HELIUM
The Super 35-sized sensor HELIUM 8K S35 comes without a lens mount, enabling you to choose from RED’s Canon EF, Nikon F, or PL, lens mounts to suit your choice of lenses, including any vintage still photo lenses you may own or to which you have access. Turn to Monochrome HELIUM 8K S35 option for a crisp black-and-white look with vividly detailed mid-tones.
RED RANGER
For those happy to unpack a more or less complete camera out of the box, RED now offers Gold-mount and V-mount RANGER HELIUM 8K S35 camera configurations. The RANGER HELIUM 8K is compatible with Super 35 format lenses and ships with a shimmed PL mount, multiple video and audio in/out ports, a top handle, the new LCD/EVF Adapter D, and a new 24V AC adapter with block battery compatibility. For a full-frame configuration, RED also offers the RED RANGER with MONSTRO 8K VV Kit, but this option is currently only sold to RED-sanctioned rental houses.

Lenses
The MONSTRO 8K VV’s sensor diagonal is larger than 46mm, requiring the use of full-frame PL-mount cine lenses to capture 8K and avoid vignetting. Full-frame prime lenses are available individually or in sets, including choices like these HANSE INNO TECH Celere, Rokinon Xeen, Schneider Xenon FFs, Sigma FF High-Speed, SLR Magic APO HyperPrime CINE, and ZEISS Supreme primes. Super35mm lenses can still be used on this setup like with Helium, however the resolution would drop to around 6K or 5K depending on the lens.
Full-frame zooms are available from a number of cine-lens manufacturers and, when you’re going for that immersive, widescreen look, full-frame anamorphic primes fill the bill.
Sporting a super 35-sized image circle, the HELIUM 35.4 sensor can be used with the wide palette of Super 35 primes and zooms, available in Canon EF, PL mount, and Nikon F-mount versions. Many of these lenses cover both full-frame and Super 35 so be sure to adjust for the differing fields-of-view when shooting with full-frame lenses and the Super-35 sensor HELIUM.
Camera Components and Rigs
The modular, application-specific nature of the RED DIGITAL CINEMA world enables you to build your camera kit as you wish. Expanders, RED batteries and AC modules, RED Touch LCD displays are available separately or bundled together in RED’s accessory packages.

Each of these 8K cameras include a standard OLPF and can be used with interchangeable OLPFs (optical low-pass filters) for situation-specific color and tone reproduction. Options include OLPFs optimized for low light, skin tones, or highlights.
Choose from dedicated RED camera accessories and camera cages and shoulder rigs or from RED-approved third-party components from vendors like Atech Flash Technology G-Technology, Core SWX, Teradek, Wooden Camera, and Zacuto.
Workflow
When you’re ready to edit, choose from Adobe Premiere Pro, AVID Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, Edius Pro, Final Cut Pro X, or MAGIX Vegas Pro to assemble your 8K footage. REDCODE RAW recording features manageable file sizes yet maintains the incredible detail of 8K imaging. Use free downloadable REDCINE-X software application to playback and process footage in real time or faster with graphics cards like the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti or the NVIDIA Titan RTX.
