DJI has unveiled the latest member of its lauded Phantom 4 quadcopter line: the Phantom 4 Advanced. This new quad bridges the gap between DJI’s Phantom 4 and Phantom 4 Pro by offering pro-level imaging hardware, software, and aircraft design at a more consumer-friendly price.
The Phantom 4 Advanced inherits most of the features of the top-of-the-line Phantom 4 Pro, including the same 1" 20MP CMOS sensor, capable of shooting 4K/60 fps video and Burst Mode stills at 14 fps. Like the Phantom 4 Pro, the Advanced uses titanium and magnesium-alloy construction that makes it both more durable and lighter than the original Phantom 4 quad. This familiar body design and construction means you can expect similar flight performance from the Advanced model, including top speeds of 45 mph in Sport Mode and flight times of up to 30 minutes. The main difference between the Phantom 4 Advanced and the Pro is that the Advanced isn’t equipped with rear vision and infrared sensors for its FlightAutonomy system; nor does its controller support 5.8 GHz frequency—only 2.4 GHz. Otherwise, the Advanced is essentially the same professional-level aircraft as the Phantom 4 Pro, only at a reduced price.
The Phantom 4 Advanced is available in two configurations: a standard version and a “plus” model. Both quads are identical in terms of body design and specs; however, the Advanced+’s controller features a fully optimized 5.5" 1080p screen with the DJI GO app built in.
The Phantom 4 Advanced and Advanced+ are available now at B&H.
