It’s a good idea to keep a camera shoulder support handy to handle an unexpected handheld shot, so the new PocketRIG v3, just announced by edelkrone, is the foldable, portable solution to keep in your run-and-gun camera kit. The PocketRIG v3 is a camera baseplate and half cage with a fold-out support arm to mount under your compact mirrorless/DSLR camera or smartphone. edelkrone has also released several accessories, including a Handle Pack and PhoneGRIP for the PocketRIG v3, as well as a padded soft case for the FlexTILT Head PRO, adding to the overall product line.
The v3 model has been redesigned to feature a detachable folding support arm to make the rig setup even more convenient and modular. Also added are multiple ¼"-20 and 3/8"-16 accessory threads around the half cage, as well as a shoe mount for a variety of accessory mounting options. Its two 15mm rods are 6.4" long and they provide even more options to mount a FocusONE follow focus, monitor, or matte box. The whole rig quickly folds down and fits right into your camera bag for storage. The PocketRIG v3 is made from lightweight aluminum, making it durable enough to withstand the rigors of field production. It is also quick to set up and break down, and doesn’t add too much weight to your kit.
The rig is compatible with several edelkrone products, including the Handle Pack that provides a top/left-side handle and dual handgrips that can mount on the top and/or side of the half cage, providing adjustable positions, extendable 15mm rods, and multiple mounting points to add accessories. The 15mm rods store within the handgrips to make it even easier to break down and pack up.
The new PhoneGRIP mounts a smartphone on the PocketRIG v3 and also allows you to mount gear with a similar form factor such as a controller or SSD; it adjusts to raise your phone up to 6" above any surface. It provides shoe mounts and ¼"-20 threads to secure even more accessories, and there is an add-on that also allows the PhoneGRIP to stand on its own to use the phone or controller separately from the rig.
For even more options, the PocketRIG v3 is also compatible with the Monitor/EVF holder and the FlexTILT Head PRO. edelkrone has just released a soft case to house its FlexTILT Head PRO, providing a durable, soft fabric enclosure to protect the head from dust and impacts when you're on the go. The case closes securely with a zipper, features padded interior dividers, and it features built-in straps to mount the case on a bag or belt. Hook-and-loop straps also provide additional security for your gear.
