With protection from water, dust, drops, and freezing, JVC’s quad-proof lineup has been a popular choice for many, and now that lineup has expanded with one 4K and two HD Quad Proof Cameras. The GZ-RY980, GZ-R460, and GZ-R560 are each waterproof to more than 16 feet below, dust resistant, able to keep shooting in temperatures well below freezing, and able to survive drops from higher than 4.5'. These three cameras continue the well-established Quad-Proof lineage.

The 4K GZ-RY980 features a newly developed integrated 10x optical zoom lens that offers a 35mm equivalent focal length of 29.9mm at the wide end and, when shooting in HD the Dynamic Zoom range, extends to 18x. The 18.9MP back-illuminated sensor provides superior low-light imaging when compared to a traditional sensor that places the circuitry in front of the sensor’s photosites. The Falconbrid 4 processing engine keeps the data flowing to the two SD card slots and enables duplicate recording in HD, creating a simultaneous backup of your material. Audio is not overlooked, and the camera incorporates K2 technology that restores sound elements that are lost during digital compression. For better sound recording, the 980 accepts an external microphone. The 460 and 560, respectively, both shoot HD with a 1/5.8" sensor and a 40x optical, 60x dynamic, and 200x digital zoom and capture to internal memory of media cards. The only differences between them are that the 560 features a built-in auto-illuminating camera light that the R460 lacks, and the 560 also packs 32GB of internal memory, while the 460 has only 4GB. So, whether shooting HD, or stepping up to UHD 4K, JVC’s new Quad-Proof cameras won’t leave you in the cold, even while shooting in the cold.
