Today, DJI announced an exciting round of new products and peripherals for its customers, including the highly anticipated Ronin 2 Gimbal. The new Ronin builds upon and expands the features and capabilities of its predecessor. For starters, the Ronin 2 is a more versatile gimbal system, because it now includes aerial, car mounting, cable, and Steadicam capabilities, in addition to its native handheld camera use. Speaking of cameras, the new Ronin also boasts higher torque motors that allow for a greater payload capacity (up to 30 lb) and, thanks to refined GPS algorithms, it performs better in challenging environments—delivering smooth, stabilized performance in wind speeds of 75mph or other high G-force situations. The Ronin 2 also includes a newly designed grip that allows it to stand on its own and can be easily detached when not needed, as well as hot-swappable batteries, which will allow users to shoot uninterrupted. Both these features highlight the overall theme of the Ronin 2: improved performance and amplified ease of use, with specs capable of translating what you see in your mind to what audiences will see on screen.
Along with Ronin 2, DJI also unveiled the aptly named Goggles. As one might imagine, the DJI Goggles are intended for FPV flying applications. The Goggles feature dual 2K screens for hi-res viewing, long-range and low-lag wireless connectivity, as well as direct control of photo and video capture. Plenty of Intelligent Flight Mode and features are available, including ActiveTrack, Tap Fly, Terrain Follow, and more.
Lastly, the Cendence is a modular remote system that allows you to outfit it to your needs and specifications. In addition to its customizable 10-button setup, the Cendence offers antenna interchangeability, multiple port options for expansion, a detachable battery system, and customizable monitor mounting bracket. You can outfit the Cendence with any of DJI’s new CrystalSky monitors, or opt for using your own mobile device as a display—in the latter case, you will also need the separately available mobile device holder. At its release, the Cendence will be compatible with the Inspire 2 and Matrice 200 aircraft, with expanded support expected down the road. Those with a number of other DJI aircraft, such as the any Phantom 4 model, or the Phantom 3 Professional / Phantom 3 Advanced, can still enjoy the benefits of a ChrystalView monitor, thanks to an available retrofit mounting bracket that works with the existing controller.
The Ronin 2, Goggles, Cendence, and accessories are available for purchase or pre-order at B&H.
