MuxLab has announced two robust 6G-SDI 4K Extenders and a line of 4K/1080p HDMI and SDI Over IP Extenders for broadcast and commercial/residential AV applications. Accompanying the release of the IP extenders is the Pro Digital Network Controller, which allows for multiple remote control options, including from mobile devices.
The 6G-SDI Extenders come in your choice of 6G-SDI Over UTP and 6G-SDI Over Fiber versions. The UTP model features two Ethernet input/output ports and the Fiber model features SDI Return Channels, allowing for video return channel and talk-back. In addition, both models support bi-directional RS-232 pass-through for return of tally and CCU, as well as control of end devices. The UTP model is capable of 330ft (100m) extensions in UHD 4K resolution at 30 fps and DCI 4K at 24/25 fps, and up to 500ft (150m) when transmitting a 3G-SDI signal. The fiber version is available in a few variations, supporting between 1300ft (400m) multi-mode and 264,000ft (80km) single-mode transmission at the same resolutions and frame rates.
The 6G-SDI Over UTP Extender features four SDI inputs and outputs and etherCON UTP connectors, and supports a single 6G-SDI, two 3G-SDI, or four HD-SDI signals. The fiber extender offers five SDI connectors—an input, an output, and three that can be individually configured as input or output. It is capable of transmitting up to 9Gbps of data in combinations such as one 6G-SDI signal plus one 3G-SDI signal, or two 3G-SDI plus two HD-SDI signals, and other combinations. The UTP version supports PoE between the transmitter and receiver, and PoE for additional powered devices. Both models offer 1/4"-20 threaded mounting holes for on-camera and equipment mounting.
Heading the lineup of IP Extenders are the HDMI 4K Over IP PoE Extender, capable of transmitting UHD 4K signals at 30 fps with 4:4:4 chroma subsampling for up to 330ft (100m), and the Video Wall 4K Over IP PoE Extender, which allows you to configure an array of up to hundreds of displays by connecting multiple units to an Ethernet switch. Both support PoE and RS-232 and IR remote control. Audio embedding is supported at the transmitter and audio extraction at the receiver. The HDMI 4K Over IP Extender can be set up in point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and multipoint-to-multipoint configurations with up to hundreds of transmitters and receivers, depending on network bandwidth. It delivers visually lossless video with only one frame of latency.
Similar to the HDMI 4K Over IP Extender is the 3G-SDI Over IP PoE Extender, which can also be set up in point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and multipoint-to-multipoint configurations with up to hundreds of transmitters and receivers. It supports distribution of 3G/HD/SD-SDI signals in up to 1080p up to 330ft (100m), and is designed as a cost-effective alternative to a dedicated SDI matrix switch. Rounding off the lineup is the KVM HDMI Over IP PoE Extender, which extends up to a 1080p60 HDMI signal, along with up to four USB peripherals up to 330ft (100m) in point-to-point and point-to-multipoint setups. A KVM DVI Over IP PoE Extender model is also available. The SDI and KVM extenders also support PoE.
All of the IP extenders can be remote-controlled via web interface, mobile web interface, and IP by incorporating the Pro Digital Network Controller. This controller is a Linux-based PC that installs on a LAN and centralizes control within a single system. It also provides a base platform to develop automation control applications.
