Now available at B&H Photo, the Panasonic VariCam LT is a smaller, lighter version of the Varicam35 that features the same sensor and shares many features of the larger version. The VariCam LT is a 4K digital cinema production camera with a single Super 35mm-sized sensor with 14+ stops of latitude (when using Panasonic’s V-Log) and dual ISO rating of 800 and 5000 for a clean image, without the artifacts caused by adding gain to your signal. It is also capable of variable frame rates up to 60p in 4K and up to 240p in 2K/HD. The variable frame functionality enables you to make frame rate choices in-camera, without resorting to speed changes done in post, which can degrade your image. In addition to the high frame rate, you can ramp the camera’s frame rate for an in-camera cinematic effect.
Outfitted with an expressP2 card slot, you can record high-data-rate footage to expressP2 cards, and the camera accepts previous-generation P2 cards for shooting at lower data rates. You can also capture to a microP2 card or select SDXC cards for proxy recording. The VariCam LT ships with a removable Canon EF mount, which you can swap with an optional PL mount. The camera features a wired LCD viewing screen that doubles as a menu display and camera controller. In addition to the replacement PL mount, an EVF, handgrip extension unit, and VCT-type baseplate specifically designed for the LT are also available at B&H Photo.
