Rokinon adds the 16mm focal length to its lineup of XEEN lenses. With a maximum aperture of T2.6, the 16mm fits neatly between the wider, but half a stop slower 14mm T3.1 and the 24mm T1.5. As with the other lenses in the set, the new 16mm T2.6 covers full-frame sensors and supports resolutions up to 6K. It also features lens coatings that are matched to a standard for consistency from lens to lens and not just from batch to batch, which means having to go through multiple sets of lenses just to assemble one color-matched set is not necessary with XEEN lenses. The color-matched optics enable you to swap lenses without fear of color shifts, and you can add the 16mm to your existing kit of Xeen lenses—even if you originally bought them when they first came out in 2015—yet be confident that the contrast and color of the lenses will match.
The 16mm doesn’t just match in color and contrast, but it follows the same physical design characteristics of the rest of the XEEN lenses. With internal focus and 114mm front, the 16mm also maintains the same focus and iris gear positon for fast lens changes. 200 degrees of lens-barrel rotation makes for precise focus pulls, and the dual-sided focus scales allow your focus puller to work from either side of the lens. The 16mm is available in EF, F, PL, E, and MFT mounts, which can be swapped out at an authorized service center.
With the 16mm T 2.6, Rokinon refreshes the XEEN lineup of lenses, expanding their usefulness and value to your production.
