SmallRig looks to continue their dominance of the video accessory space, announcing three new collaborations with prominent YouTube filmmaking influencers. The SmallRig x Potato Jet Tribex Hydraulic Carbon Fiber Tripod promises to be a professional, portable tripod capable of handling up to 11 lbs while providing one-step hydraulic height and positioning adjustments. The SmallRig X Caleb Pike VB212 mini V Mount Battery packs a ton of power and ports into a small, versatile package. Finally, the SmallRig x Andyax Creator Tool Kit provides a whole host of pieces that aid on-location and studio filmmaking, assembled in a durable, modular hard case.
The Tribex Hydraulic Carbon Fiber Tripod is an especially interesting addition to SmallRig's line-up, as their AD-01 and FreeBlazer tripods have become popular choices in a crowded field. The Tribex brings over a lot of the features and abilities from those tripods while adding a unique "X-clutch" hydraulic single-action set-up system. This allows you to squeeze a single clutch located near the tripod head to adjust the height and position of all three carbon fiber legs at once, then release the clutch to lock the legs back in place. The included head has a built-in 6-step counterbalance and can support up to 11 lbs, which is more than enough for most creators using small cinema or mirrorless cameras. SmallRig says the tripod will have stepless damping for smoother pans and tilts, also touting that the system itself comes in at only 7.5 lbs, and the legs can go anywhere from 1 to 5.5ft off the ground. That's a little bit shorter than many other video tripods on the market, but this one's clearly aimed at run-and-gun videographers who prioritize easy set-up and adjustments.

The VB212 mini V Mount Battery should be a popular choice for videographers with a lot of accessories and power-hungry equipment. The battery comes in a slightly larger size and weight than their existing V-Mount batteries but provides a whopping 212Wh capacity and many useful ports. Twelve built-in LG 21700's drive juice to a traditional BP port on the bottom, two D-Tap's on the sides, plus two USB-C's, a USB-A, and two DC ports on the top. Those USB-C ports are especially notable, capable of inputting or outputting 140W with PD3.1 protocol. Paired with an intelligent BMS chip, that means you can fully charge the battery over USB-C in a reported two and a half hours flat, eliminating the need for large, traditional V-Mount chargers. The ports run on parallel circuits to aid simultaneous outputting, and a detailed front display shows you exactly how much energy is being fed through each one. Small enhancements like a locking flap for the top ports and an included 240W USB-C cable show SmallRig's knowledge of how to make these products shine.

The new Creator Tool Kit is the most surprising of these three releases, assembling a lot of accessory odds and ends that most filmmakers end up cobbling together over years. Getting them all in one package, with an adjustable case to carry them in, could save creators a ton of time and energy. Included in the kit is a dust blower, cleaning pen, microfiber cleaning cloth, stainless steel screw set, memory card case, black duct tape, four colored duct tapes, five Allen wrenches, a double head flat wrench, a foldable multi-tool kit, an HDMI cable, ten strips of Velcro, and the modular hard case. The case even has a vacant space for your own additions. Though many long-term filmmakers may own these items already, those just starting out or looking to make an easy travel package for on-location work could find this kit extremely appealing. You never know when a little accessory will become the thing that keeps your shoot from going off the rails, and the SmallRig x Andyax Creator Tool Kit can give you peace of mind, ensuring you'll always be prepared.
