Sony has announced a replacement IR cut filter for their BURANO 8K cinema camera. This free update improves color reproduction in strong light, especially any slight reddish tinge that may be seen in black clothing under direct, unshaded sunlight.
BURANO owners who want the replacement filter should contact Sony support before June 30, 2026 to schedule the update, which will require sending their camera to Sony.
The updates are expected to take about a week to complete with all costs covered by Sony except the initial shipping of the camera to the service center. Sony will not be providing loaner cameras during these updates. Eligible camera serial numbers run from MPC-2610 1000001 to 1000727, and 1500001 to 1500271, which encompasses all BURANO cameras since their initial launch.
