The classics never go out of style, and Whitepoint Optics has recreated the classic Super Baltar lenses that were chosen for the unique look that graced Hollywood filmmaking from the 1960s and on. Modern lens and camera technologies are capable of producing images that are virtually antiseptic in nature, spurring a move toward using lenses with character, whether they be newly designed lenses, or lens sets cobbled together from surviving relics that have been rehoused. Whitepoint Optics, however, is able to build entirely new lenses, both the mechanics and glass, based on the plans of the original Super Baltars, thus combining the classic look, with updated mechanics, and a new supply of replacement optics.
The Super Baltars are available at B&H Photo, in PL Mount with lens scales marked in feet, and the lenses include a 20mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, 100mm, 152mm, and 229mm.
