Unveiled: Yuneec Typhoon H Hexacopter with Intel RealSense Obstacle Avoidance Technology

2Share

Yuneec has just announced a new model that will extend the Typhoon H line of hexa-rotor drones, the Typhoon H RS. This new drone—built for aerial imaging—features RealSense™ technology by Intel®. This special awareness technology supplements the flight control system by providing advanced navigational features, enabled, thanks to a combination of dedicated camera and an array of sensors. Most notably, it creates a 3D map of the surrounding environment from which the aircraft can learn the positions of obstacles and devise a plan to avoid them. It also provides an alternative source of accurate positional information in situations where GPS signal strength is limited, making assisted flying possible even indoors.

The Typhoon H with RealSense features the same CGO3+ gimbal camera as the predecessor. This camera shoots UHD-resolution (3840 x 2160) 4K video at 30p and takes 12MP still photos. The integrated three-axis gimbal provides stabilization and control. Also as before, it comes bundled with the ST16 smart transmitter, which is more than just a radio controller. It features a 7" screen and embedded Android OS for ground-station-style features, live video monitoring on a 720p screens, and control over the camera. Alternatively, you can gain the same functionality by tethering the Typhoon H to an iOS or Android mobile device and using the free app.

The initial Typhoon H with RealSense bundle will feature the Wizard TV remote style controller, two 5400 mAh flight batteries, and a soft backpack.

For existing owners of the Typhoon H, you will not have to miss out on the latest features. Yuneec expects to release an upgrade module featuring Intel RealSense technology in the near future.

hello; Is the included pack back airline friendly:

Will it fit in the overhead as a carry on?

The bag is approximately 22 x 17 x 14 inches, which may be too large for some overhead compartments. It would be best to check with your specific airline before brining aboard.
