Choosing Installed Sound Speakers
If you're looking for an audio solution for your business or home that doesn't take up a lot of space, then installed sound speakers are an ideal choice. There are a wide variety of speakers to choose from, but a basic understanding of the options available, and your individual needs, helps guide you to the perfect speaker solution.
What Are Installed Sound Speakers?
While the most common types of audio speakers are freestanding models, placed either on the floor or on furniture, installed sound speakers are mounted in fixed locations. They're a perfect solution if you want music or need to broadcast announcements at your business. In the home, too, you can either use freestanding home entertainment speakers if you prefer them for their appearance or their portability, or you can use installed sound speakers if you prefer that they be heard but not seen.
Surface-Mounted vs. Ceiling Speakers
There are two main types of installed sound speakers, surface-mounted and ceiling speakers. You attach surface-mounted speakers to any flat surface, such as a wall or ceiling. With ceiling tile speakers, or in-wall or in-ceiling speakers, you mount them in frames and then install them inside the surface. These are mostly hidden from view, but you'll need to have a space to install and run wiring to them. If you plan to install your speakers outside, however, make sure that they are weatherproof.
Other Types of Installed Speakers
Pendant speakers hang from the ceiling and provide a wide dispersion of sound and even coverage, making them perfect for larger rooms and rooms with high ceilings. Horn loudspeakers are a suitable choice for businesses if you’re going to be making announcements over large areas, especially outside. For the home user, camouflaged speakers are available to blend in with surroundings, such as rocks.
B&H Photo and Video has a varied selection of installed sound speakers, so you'll find an ideal solution for your business or home.
