Pelican 1620M Reviews

This case is a beast

This baby is a monster. I believe it's indestructible. Takes a while to configure the foam just right, but once it's done, the fragile stuff stays safe. It carried three LED video lights, plus a couple smaller fragile components and a sheet of teleprompter glass through two flights across the U.S. with no damage. Solid.

Great Case

Apart from the weight, everything's perfect with this case combined with the padded dividers. Im a videographer and I carry everything with me without adding an extra bag to carry around (excluding tripod). With this bag, I managed to carry the following:- 2 Canon MK3 All prime lenses (24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 135mm) 100mm macro lens Zoom lenses (24-70mm, 24-105mm, 70-200mm) 3 Audio recorders Lavier mic 2 328 LED Panel light Tools chargers with 12 batteries Marshal 7 monitor Cables and adapters and other small knick knacks. Well I would say, I would buy another one of this but there's no need to buy another one as I have everything in one and backed up with the lifetime warranty. If only I can fit a tripod, monopod, slider, glidecam and light stand, I would.....Like I said, less bag to carry the better......

question

Weight capacity of a full 1620 pelican?
Asked by: Anonymous
I use this case regularly in and out of airports with test equipment in it. Usually weighs between 65-70 pounds. The case with foam is around 26 alone so I would agree with 40 - 45lbs but I am sure that it will hold more with no issues. It is just how much you are willing to lug around.

question

Are the handle and wheels removable? Will this compromise the seaThx Michael
Asked by: Anonymous
You can knock out the pins and remove the handle. You can unscrew the plate for the wheel assy and remove it. It should not compromise the seal. I have no idea why you would want to do this.

question

Does anyone else's extendable handle seem loose? Wasn't sure if this was an intentional design aspect or if mine is loose when it shouldn't be. I just bought the 1620 and the extendable handle was like this when I received it. Love the case overall, just wasn't sure about the extendable handle.
