Magnus VT-4000 reviews

VT-4000 Tripod System Kit with Fluid Video Head, Dolly, and Pan Bar is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice! Performs like a much more expensive tripod! This is a great tripod. I use it in a studio with more expensive tripods and I prefer it. It's smooth as silk. It's made well. It works well with the dolly. I saw the youtube comparison with 3 products that B and H had online and for the price, it did everything I wanted it to do. If I had more to spend, I'd still get this one. It's better than the others that were 3 and 4 times the price at the studio I work at. I suggest you look at the youtube comparison online. It'll help you decide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feels more expensive than it is - Rock solid & feature-rich! I'm going to be using this to film dolly shots indoors on smooth floors without having to lay any tracks. Because there are 3 items in this package, I've listed the pros and cons of each below. TRIPOD Pros: Built like a tank Easy to deploy and stow Powder-coated metal fluid head B&H carries additional quick-release plates Very smooth operation thanks to fluid head Awesome ergonomics with quiet, reliable lockdowns Head springs back to neutral position when not locked down Cons: Carrying bag that comes with the tripod is about 2 inches too short. You can get the tripod in the bag, but always with great effort and several minutes of hassle. It almost feels like I got the bag for a smaller tripod. PAN BAR Pros: Allows for much finer control over a wider range of head motion. Identical to original bar, and can be used as a spare. Both bars can be locked into a very wide variety of locations, so you will be able to control very fine movements where only one control bar might be a challenge for sweeping movements. Cons: The Pan Bar is just another tilt/pan handle that attaches to the same part of the fluid head on the opposite side. I was thinking that this pan bar would only control horizontal movements where the included one would be dedicated to vertical movements. TRIPOD DOLLY BASE Pros: Collapsible design Built-in carrying handle Heavy duty construction Great ergonomics with clear markings High-quality casters with locks on each wheel Adjustable to fit a wide range of tripod widths Sturdy carrying bag has plenty of room Cons: Isn't wide enough to hold the VT-4000 tripod fully extended. You can get the tripod to fit, but it's partially folded to do so. That being said, since this dolly base is so sturdy when properly used, without seeing the not quite deployed central brace on the tripod, you would think the tripod is welded to the base. This entire package is a lot of bang for your buck. From the powder-coated fluid head to the fine control garnered from two control handles to the super-sturdy dolly base... you will be able to get years of heavy use out of this combination. I wouldn't be surprised if broadcast news programs used these in their studios. I would highly recommend this package to any independent film-maker.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic Budget Tripod Whoever is pricing these things most likely forgot to as an extra $$, because this tripod is a complete steal. Whether you're a casual filmmaker or a professional, this tripod is a fantastic thing to pick up if you're short on money. It's completely fluid-head, with the smooth pans and tilts you'd expect from a tripod of the variety. Looking through the specs, you may notice that the tripod can only carry about 5 pounds of weight, which seems absurd to me because it feels extremely sturdy. The head is mostly metal with bits of plastic, and the legs are a durable metal that doesn't easily bend. The quick-release plate is entirely metal and feels extremely sturdy. I haven't yet been able to field test it yet, but a few test shots merited the kind of quality you'd expect from a fluid-head, yet somehow at nearly half the price. The included dolly looks like it might be useful, but only on very flat and level floors. However, the movement is very smooth and very quiet in the right environment, and I will defenitley be taking it out on a shoot with me.The one obvious downside of this tripod is that it's extremely heavy. The included carrying case helps make transportation a little bit easier, but if you have to walk long distances while carrying your equipment I wouldn't recommend this tripod.Overall, this is a fantastic budget fluid-head, with a nice mix of durability and flexibility. I'm looking forward to shooting with it.I wrote this review for the B&H $1000 voucher thing, but that didn't effect my review of this tripod in any way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tripod for the price Really sturdy, reasonably smooth fluid head, good build quality. Somewhat heavy, but i like that, it makes the tripod very easy to use in the wind. Great product.
