Watson BP-727 Reviews

Charge it Twice to make it Nice!

I got this Watson BP-727 Battery on sale for about $10 Dollars, so I bought ten of these BP-727 Batteries for my old Canon Vixia HF R600 and R800 Video Cameras! Who could pass up a deal like this? I then found out why these batteries are so inexpensive (notice I did not say Cheap!). After charging the battery for about an hour, the Canon R600 Video Camera Charging Light began blinking rapidly, indicating that there was a charging error, and the battery was only charged to about 10% of max capacity or much less, and the battery stopped charging! Dorthy asked, "Goodness gracious, Toto, whatever are we going to do with this battery? Now we’ll never get back to Kansas!” But fortunately, the Tim Man pointed out that if I unplugged the Canon CA-110 Charger from the Canon R600 Video Camera for about 15 seconds, and then plugged the CA-110 Charger Connector back into the R600 Camera, . . . Voila!, like magic, the Watson BP-727 Battey finished charging to 100% of capacity in about six or seven more hours without any further problems or flashing warning lights on the Camera! After becoming fully charged, the Camera showed that there was 177 minutes of Video Recording time left, over three hours, which is quite good indeed! I have not really checked to see if this Watson Battery actually lasts for 177 minutes, but so far, so good. You Just need to be prepared to unplug the CA-110 charger connector from the R600 Video Camera for a few seconds if you see flashing warning lights on the R600 Camera. Once you plug the CA-110 Charging plug back into the R600 camera, and you wait for the battery to charge over-night, you should be fully charged, and here is the important part, you will be ready to film your heart-warming love story, or your latest adventure climbing up "El Capitan" in Yosemite National Park during an ice storm, and win your well-deserved Academy Awards Oscar! Here’s wishing you brilliant video filming in the years ahead with your Watson BP-727 Battery!

DO NOT BUY

I purchased 12 of these batteries before my school let out last spring to use with some older Vixia camcorders. I did not charge them for use until today--wanting to use those cameras with students tomorrow. FIVE of the 12 did not work at all. Two had bent prongs and would not mount to the battery port, and three would not take a charge. One more of these batteries is showing as having only 65% life at a full charge. That is a 50% failure rate. Pretty poor results. Budgets are tight, and my district won't replace these. The batteries are now past the return date. So, I am out of luck all around. EXTREMELY disappointed with the quality of this item.

question

Will this battery fit the Canon VIXIA HFR700?
Asked by: Manfred
We use this battery on an RF 700, and it works great! Lasts a long time, and is just over 1/3 as expensive as the Canon-branded equivalent for a nearly identical rated capacity (2670 vs. 2760 mAh).

question

Does this display the remaining time in the camera?
Asked by: Mark
The remaining time is displayed in-camera when using this battery, though that's a function of the CAMERA, not the battery. The camera does accurately see that there's a bigger battery, and I'm able to get significantly more use from the camera than I could with the stock battery (I don't recall exactly how much more because it's been so long since I've used the stock battery).
