Works - barely.

Using the adapter with a Nikon D5300 on an Athlon Ares spotting scope. The adapter uses cheap plastic fittings to attach to the optic, and it's very difficult to get a good tight fit. At any normal viewing angle, the fit is not tight enough to support the camera's weight, and it will often shift position, requiring you to set up your shot all over again. Touching the camera to change settings will usually result in the position shifting on the optic. Very frustrating to try to get a good shot. This level of performance would be a lot more bearable if the adapter sold for around $50, but at more than double that, I expect more. It should also include some kind of covers or case to protect the adapter lense at the current price, but it doesn't. Only reason I'm not returning it is because I haven't found any other options for my current equipment. Also, for those using Nikons, you may need to have your camera in Manual mode to avoid a 'no lens attached' warning. No mention of this in the instructions - I got lucky and spotted it in another review, but the info is hard to find.

Just okay

I had a really hard time figuring out how to attach this without the piece flying out, I have not been able to use it with the scope as it pops off and I am afraid my camera will hit the ground.

With D810 does the image cover the FF sensor or does it cause dark corners (vignetting)? If there is vignetting with D810, is D7200 a better camera? Thanks
Asked by: Satya
It depends what you are mounting it on.. As a general rule a crop sensor camera will gine you full coverage over the full frame sensor camera.
