    Sony LAEA3 reviews

A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter (Black) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 62.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works sort of.... Let me start with, I own a Sony Alpha 3000. It was a purchase I made last year. It was on super discount. With inability to find an assortment of various lenses. I thought I would try this adapter and an a-mount Sony prime lens. I say it works sort of because. Although the auto focus actually functions, it's constantly hunting to focus. And when you depress the shutter it takes forever fo it to actually snap the photo. It maybe ok for still images with a a tripod. I like the fact that the aperture is an adjustable with 2.8. When used in tandem with a tripod and still photos it doesn't seem to have lens flare or distortion. It's not the greatest. For anything other than stills.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Versatile and reasonable price Firstly, everyone who purchases Sony a7 or a7r should consider to buy this adapter (or LA-EA4)eventually becasue so far as, Sony hasn't provided sufficient amount of FE lens. Therefore, users need to buy LA-EA adpater in order to use Sony Alpha mount DSLR lens with A7/A7r. Besides, LA-EA3 or LA-EA4 are not that expensive compared to buy Sony DSLT A99. LA-EA3 or LA-EA4 enable user to use Sony Alpha lenses just like A99 with reasonable price. I selected LA-EA3 rather LA-EA4 because I normally take video clips rather photograph, so Autofocus doesn't matter. Top priority is light weight and low-profile to get mobility. This is essential gear for someone who are very serious photographer or enthusiast.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dissappointing While advertised as permitting the use of A Mount lenses on the E Mount system, it should also be disclosed up front that by no means does that result in performance equivalent to native E Mount lenses. Autofocus remains significantly slower. Continuous Autofocus works but only if the subject moves slowly. Focus tracking, eye autofocus are not available. On the A7RII and A6500, autofocus is much faster on my Sigma 150-600 using the MC-11 adapter (although that adapter does not make continuous autofocus available at all) I give it three stars simply because it is nice to be able to use A Mount lenses.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Functions but tripod cube inhibits use I really like the fact that it transmits metadata and supports AE functions. It is nicely made with lenses and body interfaces fitting snugly. BUT the cube on the bottom housing the tripod thread is unnecessarily bulky and gets in the way. It prevents me from mounting my camera on one of my tripods- I use the standard Arca/Kirk/RRS quick release system. They should have machined the tripod cube with Arca style grooves and made it removable (like Metabones.) If not for this big drawback I would have given it 4 or 5 stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Well, but Some Difficulties Why can't we just have a standard mount so adapters are unnecessary? Still, if you have to have one, this one is fine. Seems to be sharp in my first series of images. Problems do crop up when your using non-Sony lenses. I use the Cotton vest with a two-part connector so you can both use a tripod and the vest mounts. This mount I applied to the adapter for a better center of gravity. In the field, though it meant breaking out my Allen wrench to remove the connector from the adapter and then reattaching it to the new non-Sony lens. Ugh! I don't have time for this messing around when I'm trying to catch some special light during a spectacular sunset.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from well made plus works fine Wanted to use a few of my A-mount lenses on A7 and so I got this $ unit. Even though it seems to be made of plastic, it is quite well made and fit my camera with no hesitation. Tried it with four different lenses from Sigma, Tamron and 2 Sony lenses. All of them fit very well. None auto focussed with the exception of a SAM lens from Sony. Auto-focussing is a tad bit slow, but I am a manual focus person and so AF is not required for me but is welcome. The unit also has a metal tripod mount underneath it. It cannot be removed as one can in some of the metabones adapters. An useful adapter for anyone wishing to use A-mount lenses on full-frame E mount camera. It ought to work on all the NEX cameras as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works on some lenses Bought this for my Sony Zeiss 135 f1.8 on a A7RII. It doesn't auto focus. I didn't realize it won't auto focus on screw drive type lenses. However, it does auto focus on my Sigma 70-200 f2.8. So, I just ordered a Sigma 85 f1.4. I do like how I'm able to use third party or legacy full frame lenses with the full focus points on the A7RII. Bottom line, don't assume it'll auto focus on all lenses. Google la-ea3 compatibility.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Know what you are getting This adapter works well for specific lenses. However many of the older Minolta lenses did not have a focus motor and relied on the one in the camera body. If you have such a lens you need the LA-EA4 instead of this if you want to use autofocus. Other than that it works exactly as you would expect from Sony.
