The black A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter from Sony enables you to attach virtually any A-mount lens to an Alpha E-mount full-frame digital camera body. Teleconverters and Minolta XI lenses are not compatible. The adapter features a built-in AF motor, aperture-drive mechanism and Translucent Mirror Technology to enable full-time, continuous, TTL phase-detection autofocus. AF is supported with all A-mount lenses except STF models, and auto exposure will be enabled with all compatible lenses.

Translucent Mirror Technology effectively directs light to both the imaging and focus sensors simultaneously, enabling AF to work seamlessly even during video recording and continuous shooting. For video, aperture is fixed at the maximum f/stop of the lens or at f/3.5, whichever is lower.

The adapter is configured with a tripod mount for supporting large, heavy lenses. An ALC-B55 camera body cap, ALC-R1EM rear lens cap and carrying pouch are supplied.

A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter with Translucent Mirror Technology (Black) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 97.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works!! Using this on my A7 with my Sigma 70-200 and Minolta 50 1.7 and 35-70 F4. Focus is good and snappy. I think it is slightly slower than my A77. Stationary subjects no problem- right there and fast. Moving subjects in good light- no bad, not great, but it works. It is quiet and actually feels good supporting the camera and lens with the bottom tripod mount- sits in your left palm. Continuous is not so great, so you'll have to adapt your technique to you subjects. Follows birds in clear sky well. I use mostly manual lenses, but its nice to have autofocus from time to time- if you have autofocus lenses and an A7(r), you have to get this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great on the FS100! For the past couple years I used the LAEA1 dumb adaptor for my Alpha lenses. My thinking was that because I focus manually I didn't need the expensive adaptor. I was wrong. The LAEA4 operates better in every single way... even though the real reason I bought it was to use Sony-Zeiss glass on the upcoming A7S. On the FS100 what I'm thrilled about is how smooth it makes aperture changes. The LAEA1 makes a loud, obnoxious clunk with every change. The LAEA4 is butter-smooth. Yes, it also adds phase-detection autofocus to the FS100, which is quick and accurate, but I honestly would have bought it sooner had I known it worked the aperture so much better than the basic adaptor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Saved me money Just purchased the Sony a7II and couldn't afford all new lenses. My previous camera was the Sony A77 with Alpha mount and I did have three good pieces of glass for it. All the lenses work just fine on the new camera thanks to this adapter. There are caveats of course, such as in camera cropping for the lenses that were limited to crop sensors, but they still work with the adapter. I found that you also lose meta data for the raw files but it is OK for jpegs. If you convert the raw to jpeg the data is there also. In raw you have to go to file/info and dig through that mess to find it. All in all, it was a wise purchase that allows me to use existing lenses and all alpha mount of any brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must Have For Legacy Sony Users As a legacy Sony a-mount user, I wanted to change to the A7 full frame cameras but had real separation issues with all of my old lenses. This little miracle solved all my concerns and made the transition to a full frame camera easy. The adapter snaps right in place and old Sony/Minolta lenses are made new again. The only down side I would say is that, for many, a reason to move to a full frame camera is to make it slimmer and more portable and this will obviously only make your camera system bulkier. It's a small price to pay though to keep your old lenses and purchase more a-mount, which, as of right now, is a substantially deeper catalog than the FE lenses. Would purchase again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 4 years and still wonderful! This is for the LA-EA2. With a little history behind me utilizing this adapter I will say that it has yet to disappoint. I am an Alpha guy and have invested heavily in A mount lenses and it is wonderful to take any of my A mounts and mount them to any of my E mount cameras and have them produce photos that are every bit as good as any I could take with my A mount camera. I have taken it all over the world and it is more than robust enough to spend weeks with me in the field over and over and never need more than a good quality cleaning. I will be purchasing a FF Sony at some point and will not hesitate to pick up EA4. Just good stuff!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sony A to E mount adapter flawless The Sony LAEA4 A mount to E mount adapter is essential if you have A mount lenses and want to use them on the new a7 or a7R cameras which are the hottest cameras out there at the moment. I wondered how well the autofocus would work and it works flawlessly with both my Sony lenses as well as my Sigma lenses with Sony A mount on them. It is very lightweight so it doesn't pose a problem with carrying this small camera for long periods. Its not cheap but necessary if you have a set-up like mine which also includes the A77 and A99 bodies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works well If you want fast AF on your a7/r for your A mount lenses, you're going to need this adapter. The AF is fast and works great for my Minolta AF f/1.4 & 70-210mm f/4. You do lose 1/3 stop of light due to the AF mirror in the adapter, but it's a non issue. The AF points are narrow. Only in the middle of the frame, but it works well. I do wish that Sony would have at least used the SLT AF from the a77 which has more focus points, but this is the best you're going to get for a to fe mount.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like it! I own the Sony A77 and recently purchased the Sony a6000, which is made for E-mount lenses. I was happy to find an adapter that would allow me to use my A-mount lenses interchangeably on the a6000. So far, I like it very much. This is a very practical adapter. However, you lose some of the features of the a6000. For example, the 179 phase-detect points is dramatically decreased to 15 phase-detect points when using this adapter. Also, I don't think this adapter is ideal for placing a lens like the 70-300 mm A-mount lens on an a6000. Although the adapter accommodates a tripod, it would be very bulky, and therefore, it might make sense to just use an A-mount camera. I'm still experimenting and testing this adapter. I like using the adapter with my A-mount 50 mm lens, which is my favorite combination by far. It takes crisp and clear pictures. Overall, this is a nice alternative when using a Sony E-mount camera with smaller Sony A-mount lenses. However, I don't think it will prevent you from having to invest in E-mount lenses to get the all the features and bells and whistles from your E-mount camera.
