The native version of McDSP's AE400 Active EQ Software Plug-In V5 is a combination mastering limiter and multi-band dynamic parametric EQ processor designed for post production, studio production, and live sound. The equalizer actively adjusts to the incoming signal in real time and provides you with control over each band's frequency, Q, fixed gain, active gain, threshold, ratio, attack, and release parameters. This is helpful for mixing sources such as vocals that have a variable frequency response depending on the dynamic range of the input. Each band can be operated individually or connected together through active input triggering or side chaining. Active equalization can be triggered by an input signal rising above a predetermined level or alternatively by a signal falling below a predetermined level.

The EQ can be bypassed and each band can be soloed or linked with the push of a button. The plug-in features extensive metering of the input level, output level, and EQ curves so you can monitor the effects of the DSP.

Output
Sets fixed gain for each equalizer band from -24 to +24 dB
Frequency
Determines the frequency between 20 and 20,000 Hz at which active and fixed equalizer gain are at maximum
Q
Determines the bandwidth from 1.0 to 20.0 of the fixed equalizer, active equalizer, and corresponding key filter of that band
Gain
Sets the active equalizer gain
Threshold
Sets the level between 0 and -48 dB at which the incoming signal will be attenuated
INV
Enables the inversion of the threshold so that active EQ engages above or below the predetermined threshold
Ratio
Sets the slope from 1:1 to 20:1 between input and output levels to determine the amount of signal reduction(compression)
Attack
Sets the rate from 2 to 200 ms at which the compressor gain reduces the level of signals that exceed the threshold
Release
Sets the rate from 20 ms to 2 sec at which the compressor gain approaches unity after the input signal falls below the threshold
Hardware Control
Compatible with Mackie HUI, Digidesign ICON, ProControl, and Control 24 hardware interfaces
