Manfrotto 190XPRO4 overview

  • 1Description

This kit from B&H combines the Manfrotto MT190XPRO4 Aluminum Tripod with the MHXPRO-BHQ2 XPRO Ball Head with 200PL Quick Release System. The tripod extends to 67.5", folds to 23.7", and weighs 5.7 lb, while holding up to 15.4 lb.

Manfrotto's Quick Power Lock system allows you to completely extend the 4-section legs with just one hand. The rapid center column can be used in standard vertical mode or it can be swung into horizontal position like a boom. With the column in the 90° position, and the legs at their widest angle, the tripod can place your camera only 3.2" above the ground. This is perfect for macro work or low angle shots. An Easy Link plug is built into the tripod's spider for adding any of Manfrotto's flexible or articulated arms to hold lights or reflectors. A rotating bubble level is included just below the ball head so you can view it regardless of the tripod's position. The MHXPRO-BHQ2 XPRO Ball Head is strong enough for most applications and ideally suited for this equally sturdy tripod. The XPRO lets you fine-tune your adjustments, thanks to separate knobs for both the ball and the 360° panning as well as a friction control knob for more exacting placement. The 200PL quick release clamp and plate allow for quick camera attachment and removal, and two bubble levels let you adjust your camera so the horizon is level. A numbered scale around the base of the head makes repeating exact pans an easy task.

  • Manfrotto MT190XPRO4 Aluminum Tripod

The black, redesigned MT190XPRO4 Aluminum Tripod from Manfrotto builds on the success and popularity of the previous 190 series with professional hardware and convenience features that make it even easier to use than its predecessor.

Set up is faster than ever with Manfrotto's Quick Power Lock System that allows you to completely extend the tripod legs with just one hand. Once set up you can use the MT190XPRO4's rapid center column in standard vertical mode or swing it into horizontal position like a boom with Manfrotto's 90° Column feature. Enlarged tabs on the individual leg angle selectors allow you to get down to only 3.2" for macro work with the column in horizontal mode. And once you're down there you can attach any of Manfrotto's flexible or articulated arms to hold lights or reflectors via the Easy Link plug built into the tripod's spider.

Convenience features include grippy, rubber leg warmers on two legs for cold or inclement weather and a bubble level that rotates so that you can see it easily regardless of the tripod's position. Finally, Manfrotto's insistence on form following function has yielded a tripod that you'll not only be happy to use but you'll be happy to be seen with, too.

    Fast Setup with QPL
The Quick Power Lock (QPL) system is one of the most eye-catching and unique features of the redesigned 190. It is a strong, ultra fast, ergonomic locking system that allows for complete extension of the legs with one hand.
    90° Column
One of the most innovative aspects of the 190 series is its compactness, which allows for easier portability. The redesigned patented 90° Column is accessible whenever you need it with simple one finger operation.
    Easy Link Plug
The plug allows instant connection between tripod and accessories, such as LED lights for macro photography and DSLR video applications using Manfrotto articulated arms and brackets.
    Rotating Leveling Bubble
The bubble is easy to read, whatever the shape of the head or however the tripod is positioned. Just rotate it towards you for easy viewing.
    Leg Angle Selectors
Each leg has user selection of 4 angles to accommodate uneven ground or rough terrain. The selectors are manufactured according to most innovative ergonomic standards to prevent fingers and nails being trapped in the upper casting.
Manfrotto's Eye to Style and Design Detail
The entire shape of the tripod has been modified and made more manageable and stylish. The complete redesign of its functional elements shows a particular attention to aesthetics and details: the brand name, for example, appears in many sections of the new 190, including the two legwarmers made of comfortable rubber to provide a secure grip and prevent the conduction of heat and cold in extreme weather conditions.

Manfrotto 190XPRO4 reviews

MT190XPRO4 Aluminum Tripod Kit with MHXPRO-BHQ2 XPRO Ball Head with 200PL Quick Release System is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fastest tripod I've ever used. First off I was looking for a tripod I could take on long hikes as I do a lot of nature photography and having a sturdy platform was key. Is this the lightest tripod out there, no. I originally wanted carbon fiber legs but due to dud get constraints I opted for the manfrotto over the oben (carbon fiber) tripod system. I did take this on an extended hike through rolling hills and it's weight didn't slow me down one bit. I love the versatility of this system and the ball head is solid. Please give this tripod a thought if your looking for a versatile system that will allow you to shoot from low positions to higher positions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Tripod Combo Excellent quality, build, and adjustability. The tripod itself is one of the nicest I've seen and is built with only high-quality components. The ball head is easily adjustable, has a strong hold with even a heavy body/lens setup, and feels substantial in general. Total weight is a bit much for travel, but then again you should be considering the Manfrotto BeFree if you're interested in that. For typical jobs, the manfrotto tripod strap accessory would be a nice complement for easy carry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best legs for still photography, great for video not perfect Bought this a few months ago for my DSLR camera setup. I have a Canon T6i with a full range of lenses. These legs were paired with the Manfrotto MHXPRO-BHQ2 XPRO Ball Head with 200PL Quick-Release System and this is the perfect combination for still images and light video work. One thing to note: If you decide you are going to shoot video regularly, you will need to purchase another set of legs that have a ball head built into the tripod for leveling. The Manfrotto 755XB legs have this half-ball built into the legs so they are perfect for adding a fluid head for video. Ball head tops like my BHQ2 XPRO Ball Head are not ideal for video as they don't pan or tilt as smoothly as a fluid head, but they will work. Now that I have these legs and I just purchased a fluid head for video, I had to find a way to level for video panning so that, I don't always have to tweak the legs to get this level for each pan shot. The solution is to use the: Manfrotto 438 Compact Leveling Head which will cost you $100 more. These are the perfect legs for still images and light video paired with a ball head. But if you want butter smooth video panning and tilting you will need a fluid head. That will require adding a half-leveling ball on these legs, so you don't have to fumble around on the legs for each shot. Or just get the 755XB legs if video is your main thing. I have nothing bad to say about these sticks they are top notch, every detail is perfect, I absolutely love them. Paired with a ball head you won't find a better setup. But if you plan on shooting lots of video you will need to add another accessory (ball head leveler) so that you can get these leveled easily with a fluid flat head. If you plan on shooting lots of video and want a super smooth fluid video head you might be better of buying the 755XB legs, as these have a ball leveler built in. I suppose these were made with every detail in mind, minus the leveling ball which requires a higher price point. As I previously pointed out the ball leveling head add-on will fix this problem, but it is $100 more. So consider that before purchasing this if video is of utmost importance. If still shooting is your main thing and your not into super smooth panning, I can't think of a better setup than these legs. I still give this product 5 stars even without leveling ball.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tripod This tripod is stable and sturdy. It provides easy maneuverability without a control arm. Levers and locks work well. Legs extend quickly and lock in place easily. Bubble levels provide easy ability to attach camera for properly placed pictures. It's a little heavy to carry around. But the stability makes it worthwhile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it so far This is exactly what I wanted in a tripod and compared to the more expensive brands, I think this one will suit my needs just fine. I like the unique way that I can use this tripod for all types of photography and its quick versatility and adjustments are what I love most.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Technological Work of Art I will keep this short and honest. I have only had this tripod for a few weeks, so i cannot yet address long-term reliability. That said, i have owned various other tripods such as a Leitz Tiltall (decades ago) and various medium to low quality tripods since then. For me, the Manfrotto MT190XPRO4, which included the Manfrotto BHQ2 XPRO Ball Head is technological work of art; a true pleasure to use. Another reviewer helped me to decide on this combination with a comment about how when you lock the ball head down it stays locked down with no play or drift; so far i have found that to be very true and a joy to use when compared to less expensive and more poorly engineered tripods. The panning function as well as the friction control on the ball head both seem -at least at this point in time- flawless and easy to adjust, When compared to some other tripods-both higher and lower quality- this tripod and specifically this ball head seems like a winning combination at a fair price. The fact that it came from B & H Photo gives me additional peace of mind due to their fast, quality customer service
