Rated 5 out of 5 by from Right Device for the Right Computer I originally bought a different USB3.0 card for my Mac. And it turned out that it only worked for PC. I admit it was my fault for not looking closer, but do companies really this stupid? So I did my research on the Sonnet card. They clearly state that it works with Mac. And I'm happy to report that it does!! You plug it into an open PCIe slot and that's it--no muss no fuss. The card performs well. I haven't done any scientific comparisons with USB 2.0, but it is very noticeably faster than USB2.0!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hard dRIVE DISCONNECTS i READ OTHER REVIEWS THAT SAID THE HARD DRIVE DISCONNECTS RANDOMLY AND YES TO CONFIRM IT YES IT DOES SO I DONT EVEN CONNECT TO IT i JUST USE THE USB FOR MY APPLE KEYBOARD MY PROTOOLS ILOK AND NOVATION KEYBOARD, SO WITH THAT SAID THE USB PORTS AT 3.0 IN MY MAC ARE NOT GETTING USED ITH ANY HARD DRIVES BECAUSE OF THAT ISSUE, IF I DIDNT THROW AWAY THE PACKAGING I WOULD BRING IT BACK , SO I JUST USE THE BUILT IN PORTS ON MY MAC PRO WITH hIGH sIERRA FOR EXTERNAL DRIVES.. SO I GUESS IF YOU JUST NEED THE PORTS FOR THINGS OTHER THEN TRANSFERRING FILES IT MIGHT BE OKAY AS FAR AS USING AN EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE I WOULDN'T CHANCE IT AS IT KEEPS GIVING THE ERROR OF THE DISK NOT BEING PROPERLY EJECTED.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from NOT Good with Mac Pro Plugged this in. The speed was nice but it caused the Mac Pro running Snow Leopard to lose Bluetooth connectivity and my mouse functionality was lost. My external Lacie quadra drives dismounted themselves everyday at least twice per day. Overall, after installing the card it made my system lock up and slightly unstable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works - Needs External Power This little Sonnet does work well on my Mac Pro (2010). The only issue is that it doesn't have an external power connector. That being the case, if you connect any USB devices which aren't self powered, then they will be drawing 5V directly from the PCI bus through the card. When you run without external power the speeds are very sub-par and close to USB 2. I purchased an externally powered USB 3.0 hub and the speeds are blazing!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waist your time with this card ! This card is not stable on a Mac Pro. The drive go offline and online randomly. It don't work with all drives and I got transfert error on some drives. For exemple, I got transfert error message on a G-Raid mini and no problem on a Lacie. Also, I think this card is in conflict with the bluetooht because my magic mouse is going offline and online randomly. Don't waist your time with this card on a Mac Pro !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works with O/S 10.11 El Capitan... Got the card to work under Yosemite but had issues. The new O/S release El Capitan fixed all the problems and the card is working beautifully alongwith another firewire 400 card on a mac 4.1 ((Early 2009) Mac Pro tower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT UPGEADE FOR OLDER MAC PROS We purchased this Sonnet card to extend the life of a vintage 2008 Msc Pro (El Capitan) used for heavy video editing, particularly when used with the AJA PAK Dock. Being able to transfer 4:4:4 Pro Res files from the AJA PAK memory to the Mac via USB3 has reduced our transfer time by 83%, a great help when downloading a day's shooting that may run to 100GB or more. Installation was fast and easy - just make sure you are using the later OSx.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from +Fabulous addition to my Mac pro I 've enhanced my 2012 Mac Pro with this PCI card and it allow me speedy transfer between external drives & USB3 card readers . . lots faster than UBB2. It's not thunderbolt however, the pre coffee can mac pro apparently cannot support thunderbolt Easy install only on Mac Pro and I did not need to install nay drives - worked out of the box.
