Thermaltake CL-N001-PL14BU-A overview

  • 1Description

The Massive 14 Laptop Cooling Pad from Thermaltake is built with two 5.5" / 14cm LED fans to deliver maximum cooling performance for laptops between 10 and 17". The ergonomic design and comfortable viewing angle maintain your laptop's ease of use. To power the fan, connect the included USB cable to one of the two USB ports on the cooling pad. An additional USB port allows you to connect a USB peripheral, such as a mouse. It also has two flip-up tabs in the front that keep the laptop from sliding off the pad.

Performance
The laptop cooling pad is equipped with two 5.5" / 14cm LED fans in the middle, with a maximum speed of up to 1200 rpm. The fans effectively push a large amount of air while producing minimal noise output, enabling enhanced cooling.
Control on the Side
The fan speed controller and LED lighting switch located at the side of the cooling pad enable easy fan speed adjustment.
Ergonomic Design
The cooling pad is ergonomically designed and gives your laptop a comfortable viewing angle and height. This allows for optimal positioning of your hands when working on your laptop.
Hexagon Shape Mesh for Maximum Airflow
The hexagonal cooling mesh reduces wind resistance and wind noise, while increasing airflow through the area.
Dual USB Ports
Two USB 2.0 ports are provided: one to power the LED fans, and another to connect a USB peripheral to your computer.

    Thermaltake CL-N001-PL14BU-A reviews

Massive 14 Laptop Cooling Pad with Dual LED Fans is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great with MBP 15 Works just as described. Using with a MacBook Pro 15 and the cooler / fans definitely lower my temps a few degrees. My internal fans still come on at times, but typically at a much lower rpm and they don't stay on as long. My high temp area is in the upper / rear left side near the power, thunderbolt and USB ports so I have my MBP sitting lower (partially hanging off) on the cooler so the cooler fans and mesh holes will have a better impact at lower the temps in my MBP. I am powering the cooler through a 4 port USB hub and it works great. Only suggestion I have for the manufacturer is to expand the mesh hole area to eliminate hot spot. Works great for my MBP 15 although I do have to let it hang off a bit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inexpensive way to keep your laptop cool. I like lights and I use numerous laptops for work. This combines the cooling air vortex for my laptops with a nice blue glow. With the adjustable air flow dial, I keep mine on high all the time. The airflow is quite obvious and very, vey quiet (I had to double check to make sure it was working!). It does a great job keeping my laptops cool (I purchased 3...2 for laptops in my office and 1 for a laptop that I keep with me. Very inexpensive but so far so good. I only wish the blue light was a little brighter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from USB ports on the right, keep in mind! Great pad though! I bought this Massive 142; Laptop Cooling Pad with Dual LED Fans for use with my recently purchased Asus 15.6 Republic of Gamers Strix GL553VE Notebook. Let me begin by mentioning something you should know when purchasing this cooling pad: The USB PORTS ARE ON THE LEFT. It is not portrayed nor mentioned in the product page here (at least to my knowledge), so I'll just put that here in case you're looking to buy it. Also, one of the 2 USB ports are required for the power supply from the laptop, which is a male-to-male-cable that plugs into your laptop's female USB and into 1 of the female USBs on the cooling pad. Because of this, do not expect to have 2 extra USB port, but just one. Continuing back to this review: I gave it 4 stars because not all laptops will have a USB port available on the left. It has features like flip up tabs to prevent the laptop from slipping downwards if tilted, which can be done with the rear height extension legs in that flip out. I think there can be an improvement in this design to accommodate laptops of all kinds for best results. My ASUS GL553VE laptop does have USB ports on the the left, but they are my USB 3.0 ports. I have a free USB 2.0 port on the right, so what I'm doing is using the cooling pad backwards to plug in on the right instead of the designed left in order to preserve my USB 3.0 ports for something more useful. I don't really use the risers or the anti-slip contraptions, and luckily, the degree of tilt on the pad is nearly identical when used either way without the flip-out risers propped, so this works perfectly. The slim, lightweight design, efficient cooling on a gaming laptop, and reasonably quiet (LED LIT) fans definitely make it still worth to keep. I use my Wacom Intuos Pro tablet (right-handed) almost all the time when I have my computer out and having that extra USB port to connect the tablet (conveniently on the right since I flipped the cooling pad) works PERFECT for me. I hope this helps you all! =

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps my Lenovo W520 with 1TB HD Nice and Cool After replacing a 500GB HD with a 1TB, I noticed my laptop was really hot. The Thermaltake keeps the laptop cooler than it was when I was running the smaller drive. The fan can be turned on or off and a wheel adjusts the speed. The LED lights can also be turned on or off. And the tabs at the back let you set up the pad at an angle that's comfortable for you. It's a very well designed product and I'm happy I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet as a mouse, powerful as lion, gentle as a Siberian cat I bought this cooling pad after comparing with other similar products, it's rare that the db level is listed as its attribute. It is packed in a sturdy box, intuitive connection and usage. The fans are whisper quiet, and the blue LED light is great. I highly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Cooling Fan This cooling fan is perfect for a 17 laptop. It is super quiet and has an adjustable speed. Two large fans are able to push large amounts of air which enables more cooling power. One of the USB ports connects to the laptop for power source. I love the cool blue LED lights on each of the fan assembly that can be turned on or off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Cooler that keeps my laptop from running hot It's a great cheap cooling pad for your laptop, and I like that it has an adjustable stand. It runs off your laptops power so it requires to be plugged into one of your usb slots. It can get kind of loud at a high speed but for the cost it does exactly what it's supposed to do.
