    Brother PT-P700 reviews

    PT-P700 PC-Connectable Label Printer is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 118.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally a labeler that I will use I have used the PT-P700 a lot since I got it a week ago. I had a PT-90 before and it was a pain to use and had limited memory which limited the size label you could make. I love the PT-P700. I found that the software build into the labeler is just so-so. I ended up intalling the P-touch editor on my PC and it is easy to use. The only thing I don't like is the inch of tape wasted when you print the label. If you have a number of labels to make just create one long label with 3 spaces between each label and then print, so you only waste the inch once.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but ... I like this printer. Once I learned how to use the label editor I liked it even more. BUT ... It seems to have a problem with Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) that causes it to munge the label at the 73mm mark or so. Every time. Once that it fixed I'll give it five stars. Once I attached it to an older computer running 10.7 (Lion) it works very well. The editor did take some getting used to. But I have found that it's actually pretty powerful. One suggestion I might make to Brother would be to have a really cheap tape available to use while learning the software. It's pretty expensive to use up 1" tape while learning the software.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as it should I have gone through one 1/2" label cartridge, and the printer has worked fine. The main criticism of the system is the wasted tape at the beginning of each label run. I can see that this is necessary because of how the tape is layered with the tape, print and lamination, so I don't mind that so much. I would encourage anyone purchasing the printer to download the free, full featured software (P-Touch editor), rather than using the quickie, autoloading program. With P-Touch editor, the tape wasted at the beginning of the label run is less, and you can string as many labels as you want together, eliminating more waste, up to the limit of the tape on the cartridge.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Does Not Play Well w/Mac I'm not sure what the problem is, these devices have software pre-installed in the unit, no need to install desktop software. Well my P700 doesn't like my Mac! They fight and argue all the time, with the Mac always winning. I really am dis-appointed, because when things do go well, it's a great little machine. The specs stated it was Apple OS X compatible. I wish I would have done some homework instead of making a knee jerk reaction to buy. I did not realize they offered a Wireless option. If this keeps giving me issues and keeps crashing the program.... Well I'm not sure which way I will go. I'd would like to get a wireless unit though. I did reach out to Product Support and never heard anything back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great label maker I wanted to make some 1 laminated labels for my daylilies that would look really nice in my garden and last for many years. I checked out other comparable label makers which were quite a bit more expensive, but this one had everything I needed. I decided to order it, and am I glad I did. It is soooo easy to use and the labels look fabulous. I used three lines, the first in a bigger font so you can easily read the daylily name and the other two lines in a smaller font. There is a really nice selection of fonts and sizes. It also has chain printing which eliminates wasting some of the labels, and it comes with a starter tape. Anyone who needs any type of garden labels should definitely get this printer. You won't be disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as advertised In woodworking (as is the case with many other endeavors) it is imperative to stay organized… labels are a critical key to success. The P-touch labeler can be connected to a computer allowing precise composition of labels. For example, I needed to make labels for some hardware storage bins… the labels had to be precise in length in order to fit. With the PT-P700 I was able to set the length (in decimal fractions of inches) precisely and get a perfect fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged label printer in convenient size. I have used several versions of P-Touch label printers for over 20 years so I can attest to the durability of this product line - extremely reliable. The convenient size of this model makes it easy to transport and store. I use this printer in a variety of locations, indoors and outdoors. The high quality of the laminated labels, the option of extra strength adhesive, the labels are UV resistant, the ability to use popular software to create labels, the multitude of label color combinations available and the extremely reasonable price of the label printer and label cartridges make this printer highly recommendable to professional associates and friends.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice little printer! The PT-P700 is a nice little label printer. versatile, portable. and hooks up to any system in seconds since it has its own software on onboard memory. But it has a couple of drawbacks. 1. It wastes quite a bit of label stock because it spits out a long blank trailer. This can be fixed by finding and editing the ini file though. 2. It has a tendency to jam. If you don't check and manually guide the stock past the cutter after printing an earlier label, the stock sometimes will coil up inside the printer instead of out of the port. It's not too bad if you keep that in mind before printing.
