The Auray BAI-2X is a two-section broadcast arm with internal springs and an integrated XLR cable. This versatile and sturdy broadcast arm is great for studio as well as home use. It's ideal for broadcast, voiceover, and podcasts.

The BAI-2X broadcast arm is designed with internal springs that provide a clean and sleek look. The internal balance springs are precision engineered to support and hold in place microphones of up to 5 lb / 2.27kg. The design also minimizes handling noise when re-positioning the arm. The broadcast arm features a standard 5/8"-27 microphone stud mount that is compatible with most shockmounts and microphone clips. The angle of the microphone stud mount can be adjusted and secured with the locking knob, and the angle is maintained when re-positioning the arm. This eliminates the need to readjust it every time the arm is moved. With an extension of up to 40 inches, and the ability to rotate the arm 360°, the BAI-2X allows for precise microphone placement.

The BAI-2X also features a heavy-duty combo mount that consists of a sturdy C-clamp and a heavy-metal desktop mount. The C-clamp is capable of fastening onto desktops up to 2.3" thick. The C-clamp's slim design minimizes the clearance needed to mount it between a desk and wall. The desktop mount detaches from the C-clamp and provides the option of permanent installation to a desktop with the mounting screws (included). A 14" riser is included for adding height to the broadcast arm in order to extend over computer or studio monitors.

This broadcast arm is great! It is incredibly built and it is made of strong and durable materials. It also hides the springs and cable that you may use with it to make it look more minimal. It also is very sturdy and supports heavy microphones such as my Rode PodMic (2.1 lbs). And the option to make the arm higher with the extension rod is also great if you want to let the arm reach over monitors or if you need more room to move the arm around. My only complaint about this is that the integrated XLR cable is non-removable so if you want to use your own XLR cable with this, you'd have to feed it on the outside. And the only way to take the cable out would be to cut it. Overall, this is a great broadcast arm that is super well-built and helps you keep you cables organized!

For almost the same amount of money you can get a product that gets the job done. Pro: The height is good if you need to bring the mic from behind your monitors. It is quiet thanks to the internal springs. Cons: In order to get the extra height, you have a very flimsy extension which is going to bend every time you adjust your mic. You will need two hands for any adjustment, the sections are so rigid that you're afraid to break something. Either the arm or any expensive gear around the arm. The quality of the cable not great. Not cheap.

Very poor XLR cable - power supple was not stopped

I was picking up a loud hum through my audio from a power supply near this XLR cable. The cable was correctly wired and confirmed by my Whirlwind tester. I replaced the cable with a quality XLR that I zip tied to the arm and the problem went away.

Works great with one slight modification

The arm and lift work great and hold my mic (PR-40) steady without having to tighten any nobs. One modification I made was to pick up a Hitch pin clip from Home Depot and used it to lock the bottom of the boom arm into the lift connector so the boom arm could swing freely without being tightened and without risk of the arm coming out of the lift. Anyway, I really enjoy this setup and the mic holds firm and no cables in the way wrapped around the arm... all nice and secure inside the arm.

Gets the job done.

I like the integrated cable. However, when I need to move this I have to use both hands. You have to hold the base and move it, you can't just grab the mic and move it around. Also, when fully extended it doesn't stay straight up like in the product image - it's bent and leans over and it looks like it's about to snap at any moment but I've had it for a few months now and it's still holding so I'm hoping it doesn't break any time soon.

Can you feed a new XLR cable to replace the cable that’s already in it?
Asked by: Michael
Yes. A cable, without a connector may be fed through the arm, tho it would require a "snake" to push or pull the replacement cable through.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any wider clamp that will be compatible with this BAI-2X arm. I would recommend using the included screws to mount permanently to the desk, rather than using the clamp.

What length is the XLR cable?
Asked by: Richard
With the cable installed and laying the boom as straight as possible, mine is 183" from tip to tip. The length from where the mounted cable exits top to tip on mine is 20", and from the bottom to the tip on mine is 126". You can adjust these free cable lengths.
