Yamaha HS8 overview

  • 1Description

The white HS8 Powered Studio Monitor from Yamaha is a 2-way reference speaker that is designed for mixing and monitoring in your home or studio. Equipped with a 120W bi-amplification system that powers a 8" woofer and a 1" tweeter, the HS8 is designed to offer maximum headroom, minimal distortion, and an extended response up to 30kHz. The HS8 has both an XLR and 1/4" TRS input that accept either balanced or unbalanced signals for maximum flexibility in a variety of studio setups.

Low Resonance Enclosure Design
HS Series cabinets are designed to eliminate unwanted resonance and increase the accuracy of sound reproduction to their extreme limit. The enclosures are constructed from a dense MDF with a damped acoustic response. HS Series engineers also employed a traditional three-way mitered-joint technique. Common to architectural design, this construction firmly anchors the corners of the enclosure to improve durability and eliminate unwanted resonance that can influence overall sound
Noise Reduction Technology
Speaker port design can greatly influence the clarity of overall sound. Often a vortex at the either end of the port can generate air vibrations inside of the port, causing unwanted noise. By adopting a noise reduction technology that incorporates an analysis of a visual representation of the sound, Yamaha's engineers are able to control and reduce the vortex. Through this analysis Yamaha has arrived at a port design that reduces noise up to 6dB
Controls and Connectivity
HS Series full-range models feature two response controls with settings that allow them to adapt to the surface acoustics of rooms of varying shape and size. ROOM CONTROL allows you to attenuate the unnatural, exaggerated low-end that can often occur when speakers are placed next to walls, while HIGH TRIM allows for more flexible control of high frequency response. For inputs, HS full-range speakers can accommodate a range of balanced and unbalanced sources such as mixers, keyboards and audio interfaces with XLR and TRS phone jacks

    Yamaha HS8 reviews

HS8 Powered Studio Monitor (Single, White) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Where have you been all my life? I bought these with little to know experience in shopping for monitor speakers. The last speakers I owned were 20 years ago that came with zero application power and I had to hook them up to a stereo amp. I've attached these to a low end Behringer 12 channel mixer and am playing off my 6 year old Mac for Maschine work, and Korg synth. The first song was the first thing that came up on a Pandora station playing a song I had heard a hundred times. It sounded like the first time I had actually heard the song for real. I heard so much depth, so many independent instruments. Turning it up to see how loud they could go, I watched paper envelopes a foot behind one of them start waving in the wind of the low frequency bass. Two of these were easily the most expensive purchase of my new set up. They are also the absolute most important part of it. If I had to get rid of everything, these would be last to go.
