Auray OMPF-33 Overview

  • 1Description

Designed to eliminate vocal plosives and prevent moisture from reaching your large-diaphragm condenser microphone without the need for connecting a gooseneck to your mic stand, the OMPF-33 On-Microphone Pop Screen from Auray features an elegant, easy to clean multi-layer mesh surface and will fit side-address condenser microphones with a diameter between 1.8 and 2.5" (45 to 65 mm).

The included heavy-duty elastic bands make attaching the OMPF-33 to your mic a snap. Since it attaches directly to the mic itself, it stays in the perfect spot even when you have to adjust the mic's height or position and is a great space saver, making it ideal for use with desktop mic stands, where space is often at a premium. Thanks to its space age, lightweight ABS construction, it will not weigh down your mic.

Acoustically transparent- does not affect your sound
Easily attaches in seconds
Stops plosive sounds
Prevents moisture from hitting your mic's capsule
Moves with your microphone

    Auray OMPF-33 Reviews

    OMPF-33 On-Microphone Pop Screen is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Colors your vocals ... beware Due to the small hole diameters, and possibly the close-proximity, this colors your vocals (or anything recorded). In order to test this, I placed this on my cardioid microphone ( a good one), and began recording a vocal. I noticed an immediate difference in the sound, sounding very thin. During the recording, I removed the filter and continued recording. Upon playback, you could actually hear the major difference in the realism once the pop screen was removed. If I could return this item, I would ... I should have tested it before the non-return policy was in-force. Instead of this, for those actually sing and don't want coloration of their quality vocals, I recommend a regular pop-screen (metal is better than stretched nylon); you will hear a quality difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Auray OMPF-33 On-Microphone Pop Screen Great little pop filter for condenser microphones. Using this on a Audio-Technica AT2020 and it works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It seems we made, but It did not fit my microphone. I have a u87ai microphone and this did not fit it. There are plastic supports on the rear that do not allow the mic to fit at all. I did not knock the rating though since it does seem well made, but I bought the WindTech Pop Guard (PG-2000), also from B&H, and that fit perfectly. I saw no reviews by u87 owners so this should help other users who are looking for something similar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Wind Tech alternative After owning a Wind Tech.. I thought I'd give this cheaper alternative a try. I'm glad I did ! Spend a few extra bucks if you want to for the Tech name, but that's on you.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not reduce plosives I tried using this with a Rode NT1-A. Even while speaking 6 inches from the mic, didn't work at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits Senal UB-440 Easy to attach. Fits my Senal UB-440. Feels solid and sturdy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit. I'm using a Superlux condenser microphone and was previously using a mic boom mountable gooseneck pop screen. I could never get the screen to stay where I needed it. This screen however, is a perfect for the mic, stays exactly where I need it and is small enough to easily read copy without the screen being in the way. If you're using a studio condenser mic, I highly recommend this product.

Will this fit on a Blue Yeti?

Having now tried this with the Blue Yeti I can confirm it does not fit very well. The elastic band snapped when I was trying to put it on the microphone.

    question

Will this fit a Senal UB-440 Professional USB Microphone?
    Asked by: Laura C.
Not sure but mine broke first time I used it. Cord that holds it to the mic pulled out of the metal end. I had to trim it and refit the end piece to make it work. Dont pull the cord too hard.

    question

What is the life expectancy of the elastic bands?
    Asked by: Allan H.
Not sure Yet.. but I do notice my bands are stretching some... If they fail... I will just go to a craft store to replace with near type bands, I'm sure for a low cost.
